Value of a 2002 Carrera
Looking to replace my Evo with something nicer and equally if not more sporty, had looked at M3 and s4, not impressed, drove Elise liked it but its just not a good fit.
So now Im looking for an 02 or 03; 2wd; 6-peed; 996 with less thank 25k miles on it. What can I expect to pay and where should I be looking? (I am in CA)

The usual.......Ebay, cars.com And don't forget autotrader. The local dealers will charge more but yiu get a warranty. Someone here might be selling. If you want a c2 coupe you should be in the low 50's.

Options
Be advised that many of these cars were special ordered (exclusive programme), so pay attention to the options on the car. If you are new to this area, there should be a white sticker under the hood that lists all the option codes that the particular car had installed.
Secondly, certain options are impossible or difficult to add, such as PSM, heated seats, litronics (can be added but you may not have the self-leveling feature). So shop carefully as there is not much extra in the way of cost to get one with the items you want.
And lastly, take your time. I spend 4 months looking for the "right" car.
By the way, Porsche has a feature to search dealer inventory on their web site.

None of the factory options will affect performance or reliability. It's just a matter of what you want on the car because there are so many of them. As an example, when I was looking for mine, my "must have" options were: Litronics, heated seats with memory, 18" wheels and PSM (which is standard on the C4). If you are going to be tracking the car, the first thing you will want to do is to change out the suspension as all US cars are higher than the "rest of the world" (ROW) cars due to US bumper height requirements.

I agree with the above sentiments. There are a few options which are pretty much de rigeur:
18" wheels
Litronics
3-spoke steering wheel
Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) - you can always add an alternative aftermarket, but if you buy it with the car, you'll pay less incrementally, and it does sound great.
Porsche Stability Management (PSM) - there are a few dissenters who argue that you don't need it or it impedes the driving experience, but I think the majority agree that it only has to save your *** once, and you'll never regret paying for it.
I wouldn't pay extra for any car with any of the upgraded stereo options. All the factory options (including the Bose) are pretty awful. You'll always be happier budgeting a couple of grand for an aftermarket system (although, with the PSE, you may never turn it on)

I have a 2002 C2 Cab that will be available very soon. The car is 3 time PCA zone 7 overall concours winner, and is still in warranty. The car has all service records, and includes a bra and hardtop. Email me if interested. Pricing will be in the mid to low 60s.

Depends on what you wanna do with it...The track...PSS9's or JIC's...for street The X73 may be the way, although I went PSS9 for the street and its smoother and for the most part more comfortable than stock....I don't regret it, excellent mod. Oh the handling is AMAZING.
