the head unit outputs 4 channels...you can use a 6 channel amp to drive all the speakers in the car, or do what i did which is use a 4 channel amp...much more common...and drive the doors and dash...i found no need for the back seat speakers...my system is defining!!!! it sounds amazing at all volume levels and with the top down there is no loss of sound.

How did you integrate in the iPod?

I have an 03 996 with the bose. Any way to hardwire in an iPod other than an FM modulator??

Great post on your stereo writeup.

I'm the proud owner of a new to me 1999 996 coupe.

The previous owner upgraded the headunit to a blaupunkt laguna that has 3 preouts so that is a decent starting block. I just need to replace the main speakers and add a sub and amp.

Can you describe where the grommets are to get speaker wire into the passenger cabin?

How do you remove the head unit?

TIA,

Brendan

The grommet is directly above the brake pedal...it comes through behind the battery...and to get it into the front cargo space there is another grommet on the complete opposite side on the back wall of the cargo space...pm me if you want to talk on the phone....if your sticking with the aftermarket then all you need to do is run a remote wire and the rca cables to the amps in the front...then run either 4 or 6 speaker cables back....

Thanks

Thanks for the photos.
Question for anyone who as installed an amp on their trunk floor, did you screw it down? I don't want anything loose while I'm 'exercising' the tach.

Mine is mounted to the very front wall of the trunk, right under the hood latch. I think most people put them there.

Yes! Just got done: Pioneer Avic 710 with 2 Alpine amps screwed down onto the spare tire lid; kept the Bose speakers. Lid is fully functional. Having a problem though: getting an ABS PSM warning when headlights are turned on. Where pray tell did you tap into for power? Would appreciate any idea(s). Thanks

shoot me an email..i have a cab and would like to see the pic of the sub...tmtran44@yahoo.com
