DIY Mods...

I'm looking for advice on do-it-yourself mods that aren't terribly complicated. Has anyone completed any new mods they'd like to share that don't break the budget?

Yes that one first of course. Then move on to the more challenging ones like clear side markers.

Depends what kind of mod you want. Performance, interior/exterior, audio?
What do you currently have for mods?

I've heard mixed reviews on that including potential damage to the clutch. How has your experience with it been and where did you get the DIY info?

Cheers

clear side markers are a must if your car doesn't have em. no tools required really, they just lift right out and go on. Time: 20 seconds a side...maybe less if you race yourself ($50 bucks from the dealer)

the air intake is pretty easy and straight forward as well, it's just one bolt and a bunch of those tube clamps. Oh and 2 screws for the MAF sensor. ($400 or less used)

the intake plenum is a bit more time involved but once again nothing more complicated than unbolting, disconnecting and re bolting up a few screws. it's pretty cramped back there though so keep some beers with you. (1000$ new, around 800 bucks used. make sure you get the one for your car though)

mufflers: straightforward but i rate them higher on the difficulty scale because you need to lift the car and get an extension for your socket wrench. Mufflers are basically held on by three bolts. takes about 30mins-1hr your first time but will be quicker the 2nd time. (prices range)

Headers: trickier because your header bolts can be rusted and snap. appart from that it's pretty straight forward though, just jack the car up safely and unbolt. Most people recommend drenching the bolts in some kind of anti-seize so that they come out easier.

I cannot see how that would damage the clutch. All it is would be a spring that help you push the clutch in to make it lighter on the foot. I highly doubt it can do any damage.

My experience is great! After removing the clutch helper, feels much more natural to me now as I can feel the engaging point of the clutch. If you dont like it, just put it back on. It is like a 5 min job max!

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is the "clutch helper" an additional spring? I am getting that clutch creaking sound on my 2002 c2, so I have been putting a good amount of lithium grease on the assembly & it doesnt appear that anything can be removed from that assembly.
