I have an Escort Solo2 clipped to my sunvisor. Seems to work for me.

The Escort Solo S2 like all battery operated detectors will be weak at detecting radar from far away, radar around a curve, radar over a hill, instant-on radar, POP radar, etc.

Look how poorly a brand new Escort Solo S2 performed at the latest independent radar detector test.

This is why battery operated detectors are weak.

Well, I've had it for a few weeks now and I really like it. More false alarms but it is a lot more sensitive than my old Escort 8500. That in turn, keeps me more on my toes. It picks up radar much sooner than my Escort did (but I can't compare it to the 9500).

The V1 has been an amazing detector for me over the last 5 years. I had one ticket which I got by helicopter and visual speed determination...other then that, it has saved me countless times.

Oh, and I have a K40 which is installed in my (new to me) 99 996...and well, for me, the V1 is 10 times better. It may just be because I'm used to the V1 after all these years. The V1 "speaks" to me, while the K40 just chatters

Radardetectors.net doesn't even allow discussion of the K40. Mention it by name and you can get banned.

I've had the same V-1 since 1993! I sent it back to Valentine a number of years ago to have it upgraded, and it just keeps working. I've used it in many fast cars and on many faster motorcycles, ,and every side-by-side test I've ever conducted proves that it's the best. My C4s came with a built in K-40 and I never even turn it on. The Valentine has undoubtedly saved me thousands of dollars, and I literally won't leave home without it.

That's what I have, living next door to VA and DC. Great unit that get's little attention on main street. You live at Smith Mountain Lake? I can think of no better area to drive a Porsche.

quick OT question: My car car with a K40 installed from a state that requires no front plate. I need to install a front plate which it will cover the front sensor - any idea if that will interfere with the front sensor by covering it?

See post #83 then ask yourself if it matters. I don't mean to seem like a d*ck, but K40's practically don't work.
