Suspension

I've read all the posts on suspensions I could find here and on Renn. '
02 996 Cabrio, weekend use, never tracked, but want much better handling on curves and off the line. Car currently feels light in front on take off and light in rear on on/off ramps.
I know a suspension is subjective but I need imput.
Read all about PSS9/PSS10/HR/KW/ROW M030/X74. Everyone loves KW, but I don't intend to track car and $$$. Everyone recommends PSS9/10, but I'd prefer to put it on and forget about it and $$$.
X74 seems too harsh for a weekend driver plus not only recommended for a coupe.
That leaves ROW M030 which is $1000 cheaper than most listed, is an OEM part so no problem with warranty and is plug and play.
Real question is will I be happy with it???
Anyone with real life experience with this set up, please let me know what you think.
PS: I LOVE to take corners as fast as the car will allow, sometimes pushing it to the limit.
Thanks in advance

Perhaps you should ask for members who live near you with the different setups so you can ask for rides in them.

Row m030

I purchased the ROW M030 from Suncoast. Got it today, one heavy package. Cherry Hill (NJ) Porsche said they couldn't come close to Suncoast's price but that they would install it. I'll post the likes and dislikes (if any) after I get it installed. Also purchased the 997 Short Shifter and will have it done the same day. I'll post on that, too.

Are the ROW's just springs or are they a spring and shock combo ? Was thinking about doing H&R springs with stock shocks. Has anyone done that ?

For daily driving I really love my set up - a GT3 sway in the rear and a H&R in the front. Himself and Flyer007 keep trying to sell me on PSS9's but the streets in Dallas can be brutal to lowered cars

I struggled with this same decision last year at this time.

Owners with the ROW set-up seem very happy - it includes both shocks and springs, and is less expensive than the Bilstein coilovers as noted (from what I have read it is not a good idea to drop the car with springs alone using stock shocks). The ROW set-up does not lower the car much, if you are also looking for that.

I ultimately went with the pss9s, and sway bars, because of the adjustability factor. You can adjust the height of your car (although the 9s/10s will drop your car 1" at a minimum). You can also adjust the firmness of the shocks. Unless you are tracking your car, you will likely find settings that you like and just leave them at those settings. Have your Indy set this up for you.

After the install, my car handled substantially better - much flatter cornering, no floating feeling that you describe, etc. And as an added bonus, even though the suspension is much tighter/firmer, the ride is actually much smoother and absorbs bumps much less harshly than stock. No more 4x4 look either.

If you can find fellow p-owners locally with these set-ups, it really is a good idea to ride in their cars to see which you prefer.

Good luck with the decision. Either way you'll notice a big improvement in the handling of the car.

I think there are some factors that come into play. How much mileage is on the shocks? If they are already beat down, then probably not a good idea to throw some lowering springs on them. If they are still in good shape and have a lot of life left? I think it's fine. I have H&R's on mine right now with stock shocks and it sits low and the handling is great. The ride is not bad either.

I am however moving onto PSS9's just so i can get my car lower. That is pretty much the only reason I am getting them.

ROW M030 also includes slightly thicker sway bars. It seems like a great deal for street driven cars. Lowers a little not to choppy a ride.

I installed the ROW M030 on my cab996 a few years ago. Was a great improvement over stock. But, if I had it to do over again, I'd go with the PSS9 or 10s and H&R sway bars. I also did not want to adjust it and such but, now after having the cab for a few years, I'd like to be able to firm up the ride at times, when I know I will be doing a little more spirited driving. Either way, all the systems you considered are better than stock!

I installed PSS10's on my 2003 cab about 9 months ago. Best mod I have made so far. Perfect setup for a daily driver and feel they work well for the occasional DE event. I am in Delaware, if you are down my way you are welcome to stop by and check them out. Once I set the dials to my preferred settings I have not touched them. They are very easy to adjust if you like to fiddle.
