Hi All : New 996 owner

Hi All,
I figured I would introduce myself. I joined the forum a few weeks back and picked up a 996 Cabriolet the other day.
Specs:
2003 996 Cabriolet
- Basalt Black Metallic / Natural Brown Leather
- Factory Hard Top
- 18" Light Alloy Carrera Wheels
- Power Seat Package
- Bi-Xenon
- Painted Instrument Dials
- Sport Exhaust
- PSM
- Wood and Leather Steering Wheel
- Dark Wood Package
- Full Leather
- Carrera Rear Spoiler
- Bose Audio System

I am super happy with the car and look forward to becoming an active member of the forum and the PCA.

One question I have to the group.....I have the button for the sport exhaust baffle, but was unsure if pressing it opened or closed the baffle, and could not find it in the manual. So if someone for let me know that would be great, as I cannot hear a sound difference.

Thanks
Jess

I could be wrong, but I think it will always be quiet when idling or moving slowly. I believe that it always turns itself off when the car is shut down, requiring you to reactivate it. Most guys mod it so that it stays open all the time.

Try getting over 4K in second and hit the button and see what happens. Personally I'd disable the feature and it leave it on all the time. It's not that loud and sounds great.

Thank you for the warm welcome guys! And thanks to Chris for posting some of the pics for me. I have a few more from yesterday, along with a short video from Friday when I took delivery of the car:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLoC2jAX2Q8

It really seems to highlight the sound of the exhaust, which I love. But then there isn't a whole lot about the car that I don't love! It was well worth the wait!

Here are the last of the beach pics from yesterday. Another friend brought his silver 996 out to play, and while I don't necessarily love his version of how a 911 is suposed to look, it's not my car. It does have headers, exhaust, intake and tune, and it sounds great and really moves, so at least there's some grunt to back up its super-aggressive look.

It seems I need to learn how to either link Youtube videos on this forum, or somehow embed them. Sorry about that. Here are my last pics - Rolling shots coming back from the beach.

Thanks again for checking out the thread!

Nice pics. When will you take the hardtop off? You do need something on the front to balance those side skirts out a bit. Some sort of lip attachment. Oh, and ditch the dead trees in the interior

I like the silver car. I just don't love the red pin striping everywhere. Otherwise it's a very cool looking car.

Where in CT are you? I'll be in the Fairfield, Shelton area in two weeks and I'll gladly show you how to drive that car on the Merritt Parkway. For free, too!!
