You guarantee the Brembo to last longer than the others?
Seems like anecdotal reasoning, at best, sorry.............

Is there an OE replacement rotor from Brembo? I thought they only had the larger diameter. If I'm not changing calipers, what is avail from Brembo to compare to the PF/OE?

Looked for a neighbor who tracks his car - couldn't find one except for the Girodiscs

Very little from anyone in the stock 996 front size (318mm) - Brembo included. You really need to change rotor size to use Brembo (and most others). Like I've said a few times, if you don't like PFC, just get the 320mm (or a little bigger) from Brembo/etc and a caliper kit.

I bought mine here http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/b...t-p-58444.html (with the exception that mine are for a 997 GT3), great service, great product, great performance. Well worth every penny I spent, but everyone has to run their own cost/benefit analysis for themselves I guess. I haven't had a single problem since upgrading the rotors, pads, brake fluid, and adding cup car ducts. Good luck with whatever you should choose, but the options are out there for just such an application.

GT3 rotors (6 or 7) won't do us "regular" 996 guys any good. Feel free to post pics, but until we can get some 318mm slotted rotors from Brembo or anyone else for that matter, rubbing our noses in the GT3 rotors doesn't make me feel better lol

Exactly -

Let's delve into a few data points:

1: GiroDisc is 23mm LARGER up front and 27mm LARGER out back than OEM.

2: They are slotted.

3: They are only 2200 FOR ALL 4 WHEELS, HATS & ROTORS, 2 piece

4: They fit perfectly under Turbo twist wheels

Why would ANYONE who has trouble with stock 996 brakes even *think* about retaining the same old tiny rotors with all the damn holes?
The Girodisc makes too much sense, if I had a NA 996 (I have a 996TT with GT3 brakes due to al *those problems) --- I'd do it with nooooo reservations whatsoever.

It is a no brainer.

td, sorry, I didn't mean to rub anyone's noses in anything. BTW, I have several friends with "regular" 996s that I have seen out drive inexperienced GT3 owners. Experience is far more important that what one can afford. I was just trying to help out.

If Dan (Vivid Racing) has the info on whether or not these rotors will fit your 996, then let me know and I will be glad to share my photos.

Best of luck with whatever you chose to do.

Those Girodiscs look perfect http://www.girodisc.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=914...

Any 996ers using them now? Comparison to OEM? I'm due a disc change soon and wondering about an upgrade without going BBK...

No worries. I was only poking in jest. We (the 996 track crowd) have been searching for slotted rotors for quite some time. We hear about sweet updates for GT3 rotors often Just another reason to have a GT3!

I already have updated rotors (PFC solid dimpled) which work quite well. It would be nice to have another option though...

We sell PFC for the stock 996 brakes, but if your gonna spend 2200, get the 6 piston gt3 upgrade, larger surface area on a 350mm rotor with 6 piston caliper, not a "plus1" kit which piston setup does not improve just goes you have a larger rotor. 70% of the braking is done up front. Turbo, I and the rest think you are using an alias, all your posts are girodisc or Brembo related.

And please tell all about material of the Coleman or rotora rotor girodisc uses. Just cause it is slotted does not mean much. Look at the vane design. How the rotor can dissipate heat is what is important, not price. An the floating hardware, only the mclaren hardware is a true floating design that never makes the hat consumable. If girodisc is the price point for weekend racers in 996 carrera, then awesome. Just don't hype or lie to people to get a sale for you or friends company. Sales is education not manipulation.

How do the larger Girodisc work with an OE caliper? I've changed my pads, but not the rotor. It seems that with a fixed caliper position, there wouldn't be room for a larger rotor.

You have to get a caliper spacer kit. But don't got too big, as the torque will change the brake bias. Go too large and you'll screw up the car's balance.
