Question About Tire Fitment For My Wheels! Need Help.

Alright, so my car's rear wheels are 19" x 10.5" and the previous owner evidently cheaped out on tires 'cause there's a gap between the sidewall & the wheel's lip, looks pretty facking cheap & I'm guessing it affects performance as well which is the worst part. Anyway, I need new tires & I need to know what is the correct size for the wheels!

Here's a picture of what's on them now:

I want to buy some PS2s I'm looking at, but they're 315/25/19ZR. Does anyone know if they'll fit my 19"X10.5" wheels? Or are they too wide?

Thanks,
Raphael P.

I will say that 295-305 will fit fine.
I have 11" rears with 305's.
Not so sure about 10.5" pretty sure the correct wheel shoud be between 11.0" to 12.0"

tire rack states a rim of 11"-12".... 10.5" is to small.

Thanks for that chart RR, I had tried Google-ing "tire size calculator" & a couple of other things, but couldn't find anything like this that actually helped. I should've known to check on TireRack... I just realized the tires the previous owner put on are for 9"-10" wheels & they're on 10.5" wheels. Would a 315 width tire not even fit on the wheel? Or is it just not recommended?

... Also, how do I know what size is best? For example, the TireRack chart says that 265 is for 9-10.5", 295 is for 10"-11", & that 305 is for 10.5"-11.5", so I have 3 choices. Would it be best to go with the smallest, the biggest, or right in the middle?? Sorry for the noob questions, just wanna make sure I get the best performance out of my tires.

A lot of guys run 295 on 10" tires where the recommended are 10.5"... I dont think this is any different... If you talk to tire rack they wont recommend doing it, but people do it anyway and it seems fine with them... I personally run with what is recommended, but that is just me.

315's will not fit on your ride. 295 are the right size/305 is max. 30 profile only. 315's are for widebody's (turbo, C4S).

The current size is fine. It appears that your wheels have an aggressive offset, so you will probably rub with anything wider.

Call Damon at TR, he'll guide you correctly. I'd suggest a 285 or 295/30.

You can't really tell in the pic, but in person the gap is highly visible. In fact, my local Porsche dealer & 2 indies that have worked on my car have all commented on it not being "safe for handling." But as jmla pointed out, my wheels have an agressive offset so going too wide could cause fender rubbing... There's no N-rated tires available in 285, so I think the perfect choice here is going to be 295/30 on the PS2s. Thanks for all the info & help guys, very much appreciated... This is why I love these type of forums

Wheel offset and tire shoulder design are key, I've seen 12" wide with 315/25 on a narrow body. The offset is imprinted on the inside/backside of the wheel and don't worry about the tire being "N" rated, just as long as the speed rating is "W" or "Y".
