Actually, I think the C4 and C4S has the same amount of power, both are all wheel drive but the C4S rides on the same wider body panels as the Turbo whereas the C4 doesn't. The 997s is where there is a power difference

They have the same power. It changed from 296/300 hp for the 3.4L engine to 320 hp for the 3.6L engine. There was also a power option (x51 maybe?) that raised the hp but has nothing to do with the "S". The C4S shares the same suspension as the Turbo model, along with the wide body. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Quickie summary:
1999-2001: Older style C2 and C4, less power (300 hp, 3.4L) and Boxster headlights. C2=2WD, C4=4WD
2002-2005: C2 and C4 changed to newer headlights and 320 hp engine. C4S and Turbo introduced (actually turbo's started in '01). No such thing as a C2S with the 996.
C4S: wider body, turbo brakes, turbo suspension, 4WD, same amount of power (320 hp, 3.6L)
Turbo: self explanatory
2004: 40th anniversary edition, all of them had the X51 package (345 hp) with the turbo front bumper (but this isn't a wide body).

There's lots of stuff that I missed but those are the basics.
