fenders rolled + 997 shift console installed
so i had some work done on the 996 last week and thought i'd share my experience.
-fenders rolled
very simple, my tires rubbed before, i got my fenders rolled, and now they don't rub. looks 100% untouched from the outside (only the inner lip was pushed up and out of the way) so there's no need to post pictures. this mod is a last ditch attempt at making a tire/wheel package fit. if rolling your fenders doesnt stop rubbing, its time for a new set of wheels/tires. luckily this wasn't the case for me
-997 shift console installed
i actually did this mod not knowing if i had an oem shifter or a B+M short shift kit. when i got the car i knew the throws were short and high effort but jsut figured it was a porsche thing. after driving around and having to heave every gear into place i knew there was no way this could be oem so i bought the 997 shift console. after removing everything it turns out i had a B+M shifter (which will be FS soon). here's a short rating
B+M shifter
shift shortness - 8/10
shift accuracy - 7/10
shift effort - 3/10
007 shifter
shift shortness - 3/10
shift accuracy - 7/10
shift effort - 8/10
i think that accurately sums up the differences between the two. i wouldn't call the shift shortness of the 997 horribly long (my old civic was longer) but it definitely isnt short (my S40 is much shorter)
since nothing changed visually on my car, i took pictures anyway and will post later
let me know if you have any questions/comments

all work was done at Lucent Motors in west la
call tom as i think he's the porsche expert over there
i would have preferred GMG racing do the work but they were busy at the Long Beach Grand Prix the entire weekend. i believe they fielded a few porsches in one of the support races, they shut down their shop so all their resources were preoccupied

It might be cheaper to just go to thinner spacers if your wheel offset will allow it.
