Sumitomo Tires, my comments...

I bought some rear Sumitomos while back and have put almost 2000 miles on them. I just wanted to share with you guys how these tires are freaking great!!! They stick to the road like glue!!! You can''t beat the price at Tire Rack so if your in the need of tires try them out.

Yeah, I have the Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs on my Evo and love them. They're what the 911 will get when the tires are done. They are just a touch noisy, but they stick well.

Thanks for sharing. I'll give them a try when my PS2's are gone. The price is just too good to ignore

Now I know what Mannie Fresh was talking about in Still Fly.

How expensive are they compared to Pirellis Contis or Toyos?

I also switched to the HTRZ III's and have been very happy with them. Can't beat them for the price.

I only have about 2000 miles on mine, but they are wearing really well. No measureable tread depth loss, which is surprising. (Measured with a tread depth gauge)

Question

Has anyone experience PSM getting way more "twitchy" with the Sumitomos? Just switched to them and my 2002 996 feels different (no big deal) and PSM seems to go off where/when it never did before (annoying...). Am I crazy? Or just driving badly?

Thread Resurrection! Anyway, just replaced the Sumitomo HTR ZIII's on my 996 Turbo after 22,000 miles. Fronts look like they will maybe go to 30,000. Great street tire.

I put a set of Sumitomo HTR ZIII's on my 997 last summer. They replaced my Bridgestone RE-11's. Terrible move on my part. They are fine for the street, but terrible on the track. They get much hotter than the bridgestones and have far less grip. I'll be going back to the RE-11 this year.

I tried a set of Sumitomo HTR Z III tires on my C4S. It was a mistake. I was pleased with the price of the tires, but they didn't handle as well as Michelins and they became very loud as they began to wear. I'm back to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and I'm happy.
