Drive a 04 TT Cab - Arctic Silver. Had a 99 996 Cab prior, and mostly used Porsche of Arlington. I am open to other suggestions, though.

Sounds like an excuse for another road trip! Might be a blast to take a fun run down the backroads for a barbeque (hint hint) then a drive in the mountains...

Anyone else up for the Dorki run on Saturday? I'll be swinging by the Potomac Village Starbucks early on Sat am for a much needed caffeine fix!

I may be able to join you at the Starbucks depending on the weather and the time.

Thumbs up

They plan on meeting at around 8:00 am in The Plains, VA so I'll probably leave the house at around 6:30 and head to Starbucks. Then I'll hit the road for the drive. Looks like my 4 year old son will copilot with me (he's already a Porschephile!).

PS- mapquest says it's 50 miles/56 mins to get to the site from my house.

http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/viewtopic.php?t=2097

From the link:

Date: Saturday, Oct. 23rd. No rain Date at this time.

Meeting Time: Between 8:00 am and 8:15 am

Please arrive prior to 8:15 as we'll go over the route in detail then. I'll provide maps and the route outline on Saturday morning.

Meeting Location: The Plains, VA. See directions below.

Departure Time: 8:30 am

Driving Distance: Approx 150 miles

Driving Time: Plan for 3-4 hours including mid point break.

If you have hand held radios (i.e., Motorola's, Cobra's etc) please bring them along. If you have any extras, please bring them along as well. As mentioned before, they are great for keeping a large group informed.

Meeting location:
The Plains, VA. Corner of Bragg St. and Stuart St. across the barn and alongside the railroad tracks.
Take I-66 West. to exit number 31- toward THE PLAINS/ OLD TAVERN. Make a right off the exit ramp onto VA-245. Take 245 to first stop sign (RT 55). Make a left onto RT 55 West and then make immediate right onto Bragg St. Follow Bragg St. all the way back to Stuart.

I risked my life to snap that shot, as my wife (then fiance) swung at me just as I pushed the shutter button. 'Twas well worth the risk, though

I can't make the Dorki run this Saturday, but the next time some folks gather at the Starbucks at Potomac Village I'll try to make it.

Sure we can host a BBQ at our house. Only caveat is we have a 1/2 mile gravel driveway to the house -- pretty flat though. Plenty of parking once you're here though.

What weekend works for y'all? Of course spouses and any family you can stuff in your cars are welcome too. We have a 3-year old so plenty of playthings for the little ones, and many of my toys are compatible with the older kids (ps2, xbox, arcade racers, etc). :-)

Chronos,

I tried to catch up with you at Starbucks around 6:45 on Saturday, but I didn't see you. I waited around for about 15 minutes. I think I was at the right place, the Starbucks on Shady Grove Blvd??? Anyway, maybe next time.

STDFAST,

The meetup was at Potomac Village, on River Rd in Potomac. I did wake up in time so missed it myself.

Thumbs up Fun time (for a while...)

I got to the Potomac Village Starbucks at around 6:30 with Connor. With latte and vanilla milk in hand we drove out to The Plains.

Great group of people at the drive! Really nice, good people. A lot of SCs, Carreras, a 964 or two, a 993, a 914, and a couple of 996s made it. I'd guess there were 12-14 cars in total. The morning started off quite foggy but cleared up as we hit the roads.

The roads and the pace were incredible. Sporty but safe. 45 minutes into the drive my son started to throw up (yep, vanilla milk). Poor little guy! I pulled off and waved the group on. After I got him somewhat cleaned up and calmed down we turned around and headed home.

I will DEFINITELY be on the next fun run (solo). The scenery was outstanding and again, the people were awesome. No nonsense (crazy passing or excessive speeding) either.

I'll post a few pics when I get the chance. I hope to see you gusy at Starbucks soon!
