Question AC Relocation -- All Cubbies the Same?

I'm making room for a double-din head unit. I put the AC controls in the bottom slot, but had some resistance when trying to place the cubby from that spot in the spot above. Do the cubbies have the same shape? Or do I need a specific cubby for the slot?

Thanks!

There is someone else on the board that has the AC unit all the way down by the shifter. and a double din in its location. I plan to do the same as i want a double din touch screen myself. I think they are interchangeble. i hope to see pics of your success.

The lower cubby shelf has different dimensions from the upper cubby. The lower shelf will not fit in the top position.

As Ric said - here's more info (with a picture) - you can see slight differences in the shapes plus you have to specify upper or lower when you order. Good luck.

You can order various cubbies for different placements. The double din really changes the interior in the 996 which looks a little dated.

I have the twin cup holders above my stock stereo (and below the center vent) in my '01 C2 Cab and I don't care for them (other than filling the void, they're not good for what they're designed for and I really don't like the idea of having liquids that high up on the dash or above the radio). Which cubby would fit there?

Thanks!
Rudy

Thanks for bringing this up! I am in the middle of this install myself and forgot I needed to buy a new pocket. Good luck with your work.
