to fill in the sound stage in the rear...right now all the sound comes from the front...

Plus it gives me something to do to....

The Rear speaker in these cars are often forgotten...but done correctly they will fill in alot of the sound stage in the car..thats why im custom mounting 6.5" speakers in the rear...im going to do a custom angled ring that uses the original hole for depth and allows the speakers to face the from more.

I'm not a sound expert but I have read up this and installed a few systems. Below is an explanation some of which is a excerpt from a Crutchfield article. Perhaps others more qualified can expand.

In a system with superior imaging, you should be able to close your eyes and envision where the instruments were positioned on stage, from right to left. If you add too much rear imaging it will distort the sound as it was naturally recorded. You should adjust the volume level for rear speakers so that you're barely conscious of their presence. Their purpose is to add ambiance and depth to your forward soundstage. If they reveal too much high frequency information, they'll "pull" the stereo image to the rear of your vehicle, away from where you want it.

Not an expert as well but I do know that the lower the frequency of sound the less directional it is. Midbass drivers will do wonders in that location but tweeters will kill the staging

Thats what im adding 6.5" mids....im also removing the 10" sub in my back seat for one that mounts to the "hump" between the seat...im going with either 2 5" or 6" or 1 8" sub in a custom box over the hump...this way the seats are both "useable"
