the 355 looks better than a 360, but, in truth the 355 is looking very dated nowadays. the 360 was never a looker, but such a sweet interior and driver! 355 values are holding strong and too high imho. better get a 360 for similar money.

i hear the 430 maintenance-wise is even better than the 360. the 360 beiing much better than the 355 maintenance-wise. you can find decent 430's in the 120k range already, which is a lot of car for the money.

ok i have to chime in and give my 2 dollars worth....well 2 pound as i'm english.

I currently drive a 99C2 996 and have owned a couple of ferraris....348 and 355.

top end between 996 and 355 about the same......in a race on the track or street i'm affraid the 355 will win hands down.....better power delivery and the 355 handles like a go kart......however porsche is a much better car.......both my ferraris had Tubis and sounded sick.....but i would say they do not sound better than my porsche....just different!

I've also driven a 360 and 996TT and a 997TT........either TT would pounce the Ferrari in a real world race........maybe around a track would be a different story......be a close race i think....ferrari would be better under braking and through the bends simply because it is a lot lighter.

Choosing between a Ferrari and a Porsche is like choosing between a nice *** or nice ****........why choose......both are great!!!!

Some of you need to check into reality here. First off, your comparing 2 outdated cars. Secondly you're comparing a high 12 second car vs a high 13 second car.

In no way shape or form can a 996 C2 MKI or MKII (300 hp or 316 hp model) compete with a 355. Hands down no way. A 355 has the power up top, has more rev range, and is more designed for top speed. Also the high revving V8 engine just adds to the superiority over the 996. A 996 barely traps in the 102 range in the 1/4. A 355 in the 108-109 range. That tells you right there an 8 mph higher trap equals bus legnths from a roll.

A 996 yes it does manage to hit 171 mph and the 355 175 mph. But the 355 accelerates so much quicker to that speed. Lets just keep it real here.

Also the dispute about the 360 vs 996TT has been beaten to death. Basically to me its a drivers race. They both accelerate the same. 0-60, 1/4 mile, 0-100, times are identical. There's no way to justify unless you put Schumacher in the Ferrari and Patrick Long in the Porsche. But IMHO opinion the Porsche makes more torque and is TT so to me (once again my opinion) I'd believe after 150 mph or so the 911T would pull.

BTW I am in no way shape or form biased towards a Ferrari. I love Porsche more than anything but at least logical in my experiences in highway and track racing. And you don't just buy a car because its fast. You buy it because it either is an icon, or will be an icon. I'd love to own a Porsche 911 because it is an icon not because of C&D's top speed test, or 0-60. Because to me it is the best car ever made in the world.

(I'm such a Pcar nuthugger)

Ever since I was a kid I've wanted a p-car, I've had pictures, posters, art work, and even parts (I had a fender hanging on my wall when I was 12) showing my passion for p-cars! I've never been fond of Ferrari road cars, except for the 355.

Some claim the 355 is "dated", I feel it's "aged" much like a fine steak. The 355 represents a time frame of life that was wonderful and the lines and interior reflects that.

The 911 series of cars is an evolution in design, performance, and dynamics. If you put the first 911 next to the latest one you would know that they are related.

I've reached my goal in owning a P-car, I just purchased it a couple of weeks ago, I can't tell you how happy I am! Now that I have my P-car (996 C4s), I have a new goal, I want a 355 right next to my 996.

The 355 coupe in my opinion is one of the sexiest cars of all time, it's does not have the sexy curves of the 996, but it has a muscular wedge design that provokes emotion. The 996 is like that cute girl that moans and looks hot in glasses that you can take to mom, the 355 is that tall red head that screams and will shank you in the heart with her heels that you show off to your friends.

As to what is faster, the 996 or the 355? I don't know, but I'll tell you my opinion when I have both in my garage

P-car guys, stop bashing, love cars for what they are

F-car guys, just cause your car is red and Italian doesn't mean it's better.

News flash, a tuned Honda could stomp on a 996. How about a blown 73 Pinto? Point is enjoy the cars for what they are. A Porsche 911 of any type is an amazing machine. It might not always be the fastest it might not be the best but it is awesome. It is and always will be an icon. It is an amazing piece of modern machinery. So is just about any Ferrari. The two cars are totally different in just about every way. A Porsche is precise and clinical. A Ferrari is raw emotion and just plain fun. *Hairdresser convertibles not included.

So appreciate them all. But if you want to bash then bash Lamborghini. Kidding....
+100...and Ferrari > Lamborghini for sure (no, not speed wise)

a car is about the soul it has, the feeling when you first see it to when you start it up every time! Who cares what car is faster, b/c well, there WILL always be a faster car no matter what, even if you are driving a 4000lb Bugatti.

fact is, all cars are different, take them for what they are worth, and have fun with them.
