Overheating...

Has anyone with a supercharged 996 had a problem with overheating during a DE? Car runs cool otherwise, even in 90+deg traffic.

Run the radiator and engine compartment fans on high during DE's and you'll run nice and cool. Make sure your aftercooler water pump is running. This assumes your radiators are not blocked with debris.

I just recentley had the radiators cleaned so there is no debris. Wouldnt the the engine and radiator fans run on high automaticaly when the engine gets hot, or would this prevent the engine from getting hot in the first place?

High speed fans do not turn on until coolant temperature reaches 215F+.

Thanks for the info. I'll do a search for your post on how to do this.

Once the car is moving, the fans should not offer any extra help. The GT3 only has one fan for this reason -though it does have all 3 radiators in the front.

On a supercharged car, I'd be tempted to install an oil cooler to keep the temps in control, but the 3rd radiator (if you don't already have it) is a nice plug and play upgrade as well.

Maybe you have kinks in your intercooler tubing... thats why I installed this.... no overheating on my 3.4... 30min sessions at the track.
