HELP!!!!! Water in the back seat and behind the Drivers seat
HELP!!!!
Guys...i moved my 02 Cabrio today and heard water slushing around....i felt the carpet under the rear seat....the front of it was wet and the area behind the drivers seat as well....I removed about 1 gallon of water from the carpet and foam....
i checked the drain hole that is directly under the ram for the top and it was clear....i blew it out anyway along with the tube that dumps into it....
Any advise on the source of the water would be helpful!!!!!
Its only the Drivers side!!!!!
Thanks

I don't know where the water is coming from, but you better be careful with that water, there is a security/ignition module under the drivers seat, if it gets wet, it's over a grand to replace that unit. Your car will not start if that's the case

Water in car
I had a similar water problem recently........water only in the drivers rear footwell in my 996 cabriolet. I researched this on the net as I had no idea where the leak was and found a very useful piece of advice.
If it is not the roof which in my case I suspected it wasn't as if it were the roof it would not only be in the drivers rear footwell...... therefore it had to be somewhere else. There are water drain plugs all along the rear bodywork beneath the cover which houses the 3rd brake light these can be seen when the hood is being lowered..... I Checked to see if these were blocked and blasted air down them. There was a visible release of water from the wheel arch lining which meant water was obviously being held.
This did not however cure the problem so I then removed the rear wheel and took out the wheel arch liniing......behind the lining is a rather large drainage valve with a rubber washer this drainage valve was blocked with a considerable amount of gunk and subsequently retaining water. I cleaned this out so that any water was free flowing.
I then removed the rear speaker so that I could view behind the rear panel with a torch and sprayed water onto the car. There is a drainage channel and reservoir which takes water from the roof and windows down through the body and into the valve under the wheel arch. The water flowed freely....... I suspect that as the drainage lug was blocked water was backing up in the reservoir and overflowing into the interior.
Taking the wheel and lining off is a very quick and simple fix (I am no mechanic and it took me 10mins. I also did the left hand side as a precaution as all the electronics are based in the passenger side.....
Hope this helps

It worked
Awesome. I had the exact same issue and tried this. Once I pulled the vale rubber off I could see the blockage. I poured some more water on the roof that washed out the blockage that looked years of rotted gunck. I repeated this for the passenger side too just in case. There was some crap in there too as it turns out - not as bad though. Thanks heaps for this info btw.

Funny thing . . . I took my C4 Cab into the dealer for the same problem and was told it was due to A/C condensation. I've cleaned out the front drains before, but will now look at the rear drains too. Thanks for the information!
