Lightwight Battery, need suggestions.

I am looking to buy a new battery, so I would like to shed some more weight at the same time.

I am looking at the Odyssey 680 and 925. Will the 680 be "strong" enough for a 99 C2?

Any other battery suggestions are also very welcomed.

The 680 is going for $140 shipped and the 925 is $150.

I did the Braille 12lb and it has worked fine. No problem starting after sitting for a week.

If it's daily driven take the hit on the few extra pounds and get the 925. You'll thank me later. I had a 680 and was always dealing with starting problems. My car's not a daily though.

Another alternative is the deka. I got my Deka from Big Crank and I got the "big" one which actually has slightly better stats than the Odyssey 925 and if I remember correctly is also 1lb lighter than the 925. Oh and it's like $80. Been in my car for two years. As long as it doesn't sit more than 2-3 weeks it starts right up every time.

Here's the link to the one I've got in my car now:

Thanks for the replies guys.

The Big Crank seems to have lower cold cranking amp nunmbers compared to the Odyssey.

The price is not that important... relatively speaking, can't afford these: https://p10.secure.hostingprod.com/@...products_id=81.

Where can I check out the Braille 12lb battery?

The car is not a daily driver, but I do have a Porsche battery tender on it.

I think we have a winner here:

Braille 2015 Battery. 15 lbs, cold cranking amp of 1067 and only $160.

The foot print is just as small as the Odessy 680.

Where is the best place to buy this battery?

Very good choice, especially if you already have the tender for the car - it'll save you some headaches.

SOJDM carries them: http://www.sojdm.com/store/pc/viewPr...=0&idproduct=2

It seems even the 11.5 lbs battery would work!

http://www.braillebattery.com/index....teries/b14115/#

More cold cranking amps than the 680, just barely belowthe 925.

Mathism is this the battery you have in your car?

Very clean set up Auto-xr.

I ended up buying a Braille B14115C (11.5 lbs, carbon Fiber).

http://www.braillebattery.com/index....eries/b14115c/

Got it on ebaY for $145 shipped.

I'll let you all know how it performs.

Please post some pictures when you have it installed; will be curious to know what it takes to secure it. $145? Wow; nice deal - who was the vendor?

Doh! Just found this.

http://www.planetporsche.net/cayman-...ery-track.html

"The Braille B14115 11.5 lb battery which is marketed for weekend track warriors and medium displacement engines, is the same as the Deka ETX14 - except that the Deka retails for about $70, and the Braille is $150, or $230 if you go for the pretty carbon fiber case. The only difference aside from the case and price, is that you have to buy your own SAE Terminal Adapters (about $10) if you buy the Deka."

Here are some other deka weights/CCAs.

Mine is not a racing battery but it's 20 LBS lighter than the OEM one and it fits in the OEM tray and holder. It's a Die Hard E2 group 47 from Sears for $125.

I have the Braille 11.5# battery, since it is only used as a weekend AX/DE car. I do have to constantly use the battery maintainer compared to never needing it with my OE battery. A battery with additional reserve might be a better decision for a piece of mind. I got caught with a dead battery with no way to pop the hood or trunk.

-I will state the Braille warranty and customer support is TOP NOTCH. My battery was dead under warranty, the replacement quick and painless.
-Braille comes with the post terminals.
Keep that in mind if you choose between that and a Deka.
