996 carrera vs csl

I you used a plug and play for the 996 carrera 3.6 which I think gives you an extra 20 hp, could it keep up with a e46 m3 csl?

Could keep up until the road gets twisty. CSL will get 996 Mk1 GT3 times both straight line and twisties...

Just a look at CSL interior makes you understand how business it means.

Unless you are in Europe, I think the 996 beats the CSL everytime. Hell, a Hyundai beats a CSL here in the U.S. Even a bicycle beats a CSL here. IIRC, BMW never exported the E46 M3 CSL to the U.S. I don't even recall hearing of any E36 CSLs in the U.S., but there might have been a few. And if you find one here, it is probably here as a race only car and will only see the track. I did a quick search and didn't see a single CSL M3 for sale in the US at all.

Otherwise, the CSL was intended to compete with the GT3. Each version of the CSL should be faster than a similar year stock (non-GT3) 996/997.

Look at the OP's location. I really don't think a 996 can keep up with the CSL. The CSL is very lightweight and very fast. The CSL also has the hp advantage and the better rev range. Also does mid 12's in the 1/4 stock. So no matter how you look at it the CSL is faster at all angles.

Speaking from experience the CSL wins, but only on the straights. The 996 brakes harder and later and better through the corners but the torque of the CSL means it pulls away on the straights. Had a great time 'playing' along side one on track recently. Also know quite a few GT3 owners who've recently defected to the CSL camp...

Where is Cedar Hill? There is a Cear Hill, Texas. And we don't have no CSLs down here.
