Long way to run all the wires for the speakers, power and the head unit. Two sets of RCA cables and an antenae lead (to power up the amp), Power and ground for the amp, two sets of wires for the dash, the doors and the rears. That is alot of wiring to get back and forth to the rear seat location. The trunk would be alot easier, this is where I put mine. Used the existing wiring for the doors and rear speakers, spliced into the wring harness there, and new wires for the dash. Also, in the trunk you have room for crossovers and easy access to the battery and ground. Just my thougts.

I would run it in the trunk. More weight in the front, the better

I'm thinking about changing my stock amp to a 6 channel JL amp. Do you think i need to run all new speaker wires or can i just splice into the existing wire- Power/Ground/Amp Turn on Wire/Front Speakers/Door Speakers/Rear Speakers?? Ive asked this many times no one has had an answer.

My suggestion is to leave the stock wiring alone...you can get a plug for the output for the stock head unit what gives u 4 channels and a remote turn on wire...the rest is easy...I replaced all the speaker wire as well i ran all new 12ga wire!!! I have 2 amps in the car and 1 more on the way....Ask away...My enitre install did no damage to the car!!!

I have a JL audio 6 channel amp, with Focal 100KP's in the dash, focal %WS in the doors and Focal 100 slim lines in the rear. The amp is in the trunk. I ran new RCA cables (2 sets) and the antenae wire to the trunk location. This allows the use of the head unit for both balance and fade. The antenae wire is used to switch on and off the amp. Power is off the + terminal of the battery and ground to the - terminal. For the dash speakers, which are component I ran new wires as the OEM is only one set and the crossovers are in the trunk by the amp. for the rear I used the stock wire as the speaker are coaxial, no crossovers so only one set of wires is required to each side. And the doors are small enclosure sub woofers (the Focal 5WS is no longer made, the replacement is the the 13KS) , os I used the stock wiring. So for both the rears and the doors I spliced into the wiring harness at the old amp location. Works great. Now the guage of the doors and rears is much lighter than the dash, and this may make a small difference, so some would argue that new wiring would have been better, but it also would have been alot more work. The JL Amp allows you to split off the low frequency signals to the doors and blends the two channels.

The Dash and rear speakers are not hard to rewire...the doors are a pain but the 13ks subs i put in handle 180max power 90rms so i needed serious wire to carry that power...the dash speakers i have also take 100+watts of power, and the rears that are in progress will take 150+...im making a custom 5 1/4 setup for the rears...So for everything i used i needed much larger cables

+1 for in the trunk. I have 3 mounted on the bottom in front of the spare with a set of carpeted shelves covering them up. Looks OEM and still have plenty of trunk space.
