I will keep you posted but I am considering putting together a full front end conversion kit for people to buy that just bolts straight on and used all oem porsche parts.

the fenders need a lot of work....basically you have to cut a 5cm strip from the 996 fender where it marries up to the door line......then remove a similar strip from the 997 fender....then weald the 996 strip to the 997 fender.
you also have to modify the inner wing section.....or flatten the inner tub.

When I do the conversion.....I will try and figure out a way to build a jig to make it easier to modify the fenders.
The hood bolts straight on but again you have to cut a section out of the inner wing to allow for the hood hinges.
The fenders are the key!
You also have to buy quite a few brackets that you don't think of when you first think of doing this conversion.

I will keep you posted!

I'm not sure if it will look bootleg. I just don't like the headlight shape. Everything else is fine. But I do like the idea of changing the rear mirrors and the back bumper. But, one step at a time for me and I'll see how it goes.

that is a great idea. If you do, please consider selling just the front fenders to me since I like the current hood. The front bumper will need to be replaced however. I want to see how yours comes out and then decide but I am definitely interested in the fenders.

Incidentally, could you make a template from the existing fender strip and then have that fabricated from a metal shop? This way you wouldn't need to cut the old fender. Alternatively, if you are just lining up bolt holes, you could use the template and lay it over the existing 997 fender and drill away.
