Hello Guys,
I'm new to the forum and am very close to buying a 1998 996 C4 from a third owner. The car looks really great and has only 22.500 Km in the odometer. The first owner bought the car from the importer in May 1999. From several readings I've been doing lately, I learned that Porsche only launched the C4 in the 1999 model/year and, so, I got confused and worried. Is anybody out there that could help me figure out the real situation of this car? Thans in advance for any contribution and regards from Brasil!
Note: The 10th digit in the VIN is "W" wich confirms the car is a 98...

 

They came out in 99 in the US but 98 in ROW if I recall correctly.

 

Thanks for your response. Seems to be a possible explanation. Despite that I couldn't find any confirming facts/records in writing, it is helpful to know that somebody recalls that it may have happened indeed. Best regards!
