Mono wiper on 996??
#16
I have been looking at the wiper mech. diagrams online and think it is a bit more complicated than we are being led to believe. Of course, it may be something so simple, I am just looking past it.
Going to take the covers off tonight and have a look at my 996. It can't be but so bloody complicated. It is just a wiper for ducks sake.

Asides from it being upside down...it shows that the only part that isn't a road car part is the assembly that the wiper attaches to. It doesn't have a nub for the drivers wiper. And when you compare it to the standard 996 one, it seems that all you do is really mount the passengers wiper arm at a 90 deg angle to normal.
SO...so simple it is stupid. If it stops raining here for a bit I just might give it a try.

Not exactly. Upon a bit of further checking, it seems that the other thing the CUP part has is the balance point is set off center as compared to the road car part. This serves to give the center mounted arm a greater range of travel. Hoping to order one this week so maybe I can have pics next week.

If you will note on the parts listing above, the motor is the same part as the road car part. PMNA verified this is the setup all 996 CUP and RSR cars run for monowipers.
