Hi all,

Just want to introduce myself and say hi!

I've been monitoring this forum the past few days and I must say this is a great place for information. All of your cars are simply gorgeous!

With that said, I've just recently put a down deposit on a used 2000 C2 with 7k miles -- i decided to do a little research and I ran into the "dreaded" RMS issues...

I've been reading a ton of threads about it (which I'm sure you are all sick of talking about!) and can't help but be a little worried... especially without a warranty. SO, I am wondering what are your takes are on it?

TIA for all your help!! I hope to be a part of this board if all is right(fingers crossed) !!

Great looking C2 with wing and bumper. Only 7k mi, wow.

Why don't u have a shop to inspect it thoroughly first.
The potential RMS issue without warrany is someth to consider but how much more are you willing to pay for a warrantied car?

I purchased my 2003 911 from them last november. I think they are an above average dealership when it comes to selling cars and I'm in the business. Being in the business I know that you can tell alot about the dealership by the quality of vehicles they sell overall on their lot and not by one vehicle so my first instinct when I got there was to check out all of the cars they were selling on their lot. All of them were above average in quality and they were just awarded a new lotus point at the time. I know thw owner now because of my purchase and can call him anytime and he will be there. I don't think you have anything to worry about if he tells you you don't. I couldn't believe the deal he gave me and my car had 1800 miles on it and it was 6 months old. He told me exactly what I was buying and he was right on.
I'll give you his number if you want it. Also, have you checked out their website?

A good PPI should relive all your concerns.

I would second the comments on this board about getting a PPI.

I was about to pull the trigger on a 2000 996 then decided to get a PPI.

Car came back with some issues and the beginnings of an RMS leak.

If you are going to invest over $40k on a vehicle, do yourself a favor, spend the $200 for a PPI.

You will have a better appreciation for the car and never have that second thought lingering in the back of your mind.

Agreed, without the warranty you need to get it checked out. BTW very nice looking car.

Great looking car! 2 owners with 7k and all thoes mods? I'd be a little weary. Is that wing stock? Thats what I want mine to look like eventually.
Have a tech take a look at it.
I bought my '99 for 44k with 20,000 miles but it came certified with a 2yr warrantee.
Good luck

They had a car on EBay a few weeks ago. The description of the car listed the wrong mileage, wrong engine, and wrong transmission. I brought this to there attention and they said they would change the description. They never did. I dont know if the bidders were aware of the above.

I would do a PPI as well, but I think the hysteria over the RMS leak is a bit overblown. If you have to replace the seal out of warranty, it's maybe $1200 or so - not fun, but not the end of the world. Even if it checks out clean on the PPI, you could still end up with a leak later. See if you can track down the history and look at the records....maybe it's been replaced before.

Sweet car, by the way.
