I put the detector high on the windshield to the left of mirror and hardwired to upper console. Then wired the remote down thru the A pillar and set it up on top of the steering column. It's good because the remote is very close to your line of sight and the main unit is dark. There have been more exotic setups tho and I'm sure you'll hear them.

For mount location, many dif ideas, personally I do it this way w/no suction cups.
Wiring.....do a search here and Rennlist & you'll find the wiring. 'Ignition' power-up is what you want and that's either up their at the light assembly.....or down below behind your right foot kick panal (where I have all mine wired.....piece of cake there).
If nothing else.....use Berkley Johnsons old instructs Berkleys Val

Looks like it would work........however.......that center console is really off your forward line of site.
I personally have a hard time eyballing my radio or Nav while driving in traffic......though Val is just a glance (unless you are counting dots or bogies )
Just my opin but..........but when you get the beep, it's easy for me to just drop your eyes down slightly (but still dead ahead)........and see the remote.
You'd think you could get used to any location........but, as mentioned, I'm still not getting it w/the Radio & Nav

Here's the link. If you install the concealed display on the steering column as I did, taping power from the overhead light doesn't really buy you anything since you still need to run wires down the a pillar for the display.

I get the idea of putting the detector high for stealth purposes, but I have read that the windshield tint interferes with the detection. IE it should be placed in the non tint area above the dash and below the rear view mirror.

A little tint should not be a factor......hasn't been for me......great range.
One time I talked to someone at Val....they said Pcar tint usually not that dark.....back then, he said to just look through it, if you can easilly see the light change at the stop light, Val will not have a problem.
Obviously if you have a window that gets very dark right at the edge or has the 'black speckle' edging, stay clear of that.
Needless to say........stay clear of in glass antenna wires, and any metalic film (like heat/defrost element).......also insulated glass was kinda a bugger if I remember correctly.
