Smallest offset for rear wheels on stock 996?

I placed an order for set of 997 turbo style wheels for my 996C2. I live in Finland and the market for 996 wheels is almost non existent here. So I had to order from U.K, shop called 911design.co.uk. The ad said that the rear wheels are 10 x 18 ET 65 wich is tock for 996 C2. However, after placing my order I received an e-mail sayng that the rears are 10 x 18 ET 50 and that they will fit my car ok.

The question is will they fit? 15mm more out than stock. Will they look funny?

Wow, at ET of 50 sounds like that wheel would be pushed way out. I would be concerned about the fit on a narrow body 996. It's a little more than a half inch which may limit your tires choices.

Here is how it looks!

The rear wheels fit ok but I am not sure if they are a bit overwide from legal view point here in Finland.

Looks really good. No rubbing? what size and type of tyres are you running? Is your car lowered at all? I'm looking for new wheels as well, and I love the look of the ones you purchased, but I too am concerned about proper fit on my C2NB.

I have 18x10's ET 51 GT3 wheel for my 2001 C2 so I gess they'll look similar to yours which looks great. I fitted the wheels without tires and the face was a 1/4" (6mm) inside of the fender.
I rolled the wheel arch lips with Eastwood's fender roller to reduce chance of rubbing. What size tires are you running?

My tires are Hankoov V12 Evo 265/35-18. Those tires are for summer use only. As you can see from the photo it is snowy here and for that reason I could not drive and test if there would be fender rubbing. I gues I will wind out aftwr 5 months when the snow and ice goes away.

I have stock suspension - no lowering at all.

JJ Shaffer, what does NB stand for? (Carrera 2 NB)

NB, got it. Same as mine. Unfortunately I cannot promise there will be no fender rubbing untill next spring. However, I doubt there wont be any. Judging by eye, there should be enough room.

I bought my wheels from design911.co.uk for 550 pounds. I also got matching wheel hub caps for 80 pounds. Cargo to Finland was 80 pounds.

John at design911 claimed the rear wheels will fit ok with standard suspension.

I am pleased with the quality of the wheels compared to price. I had Hankooks installed on the wheels and the local tire&wheel shop and they also complemented the overall quality of the wheels.

I sure like the look of them.

Out of curiosity, what kind of winters are you using?

I ordered a set of Hankook Ice Bears from an on-line store from Germany. First arrived the fronts but the rears did not show up. I e-mailed them and they replied that the wider Ice Bears are sold out and I should wait. Waiting was not an option for me so I ordered a pair of Bridgestone Blizzaks for rear tires. Both Ice Bears and Blizzaks are studless.

However, C2 without PSM is a difficult car to handle in the winter. I drive it on sunny winter days, just around a few corners and then back. I have an Audi A6 Avant as a daily driver.

Your new wheels look great, I'm glad to hear that they worked out. Will you be lowering it?

Just replaced my OEM wheels with new ones with the exact same specs. However, they sit too far in the wheel wells for my taste so I have 15mm spacers on the way to push them out a bit. They should still fit with no rubbing and look better. Love the look of your wheels!!

No, I am not going to lower the car. Too many speed bumbs and too crappy roads here in Finland.
