Sway bars; Should I get it? Which one?
I'll be getting PSS9s for my 40th Anniversary.
I'm considering anti-roll bars. Should I get it and if so which sway bars should I get?
Option 1:
Adjustable GT3 Anti Roll Bars For P96 Cars.
These are factory GT3 adjustable anti-roll bars.
Front is 5-way adjustable and rear is 4-way adjustable.
- They sell for $395 Euro
- Would these even fit on my car?
Option 2:
- M030 Sway bars (the ones on the X74 kit)
- These sell for $230 Euro
I'm not sure if I'll ever track the car (don't think my skills are good enough for the track)...just a poseur on the street hoping to have the time of his life on a mountain run or on highway off ramps.
The PSS9s will probably be set at the GT3 height at 5back/4front. 19" HREs will follow as soon as I decide on which ones I want.
Regards,
Mel

You already have M030 bars on your 40th, it's part of the sports suspension package. Why in the world do you want to change the suspension even before you have driven it on the track? These cars are awesome on the track right out of the box. You do not need an adjustable suspension unless you are doing some serious tracking. Definitely no need for it on the street. Just add some springs if you want the car to look cool.
Between the 9 adjustments on the dampers, 4 more on both ends of the GT3 bars , ride height and not to mention tire pressures there is a lot of room for error. Remember every change in ride height requires a 4 wheel alignment. For 99.9% of the people on this board the factory M030 is more than they will ever need. I also have my doubts if the PSS9 is really that great even on cars that do see serious track time. I like to keep it straight forward at the track and make as few adjustments as needed. IMHO of course.
OK I'm off my soapbox.

I agree with Doug, don't change out the 030, you'll regret it. By your own admission you're a novice who never plans to track the car. You will probably never drive the car beyond it's factory capabilities anyway. You'll be surprised what that car can deliver out of the box!
Don't mess up the handling of your car for the sake of 'bling'. Do yourself a favor and go to a PCA DE event, see what your car can deliver 'as is'. JMO

When I put the H&R coils on my car I drove it then did the H&R sways (3 way adjustable only in rear) if you are considering GT3 sways call Gert because to do them right you need to change all the drop links o the sway bars and this is alot of labor as well the droplinks are over $1000 just in parts. The M030 sways are a litlle thicker then stock however see how it feels IMHO sways made a huge difference in my 996. If you are doing a coil over yousurly dont leave stock sway bars in even the M030 ones.

The 40th needs a suspension. Out of the box the car exhibits float, under steer, harshness and abrupt transitions. Its like any other USA 996 and ROW MO30, X74 or PSS9 is a great improvement.
If you're a novice, the suspension will give you substantially improved feel. Once you understand the feedback you'll start to understand the car. If PSS9 is similar to my X74, you will also have the benefit of a substantially less harsh ride at the cost of more firmness. In my late 50's with 3 herniated disks, the added firmness is a non issue.
