IMS Bearing for 2003 C4S

Anyone know of any NJ shops that have experience replacing the stock IMS bearing with a L&N IMS bearing? How much should this repair cost and while I'm having the repair done is there anything else that I should have done?

If you are going to have this done check with Jake to see if anyone in NJ/NY has done it. While there replace the clutch if it is needed. Should be no additional charge for labor for that.

My local Porsche dealer charged 1400 to install a new IMS, RMS, thermostat, spin on oil filter adapter, changed oil and topped off the cooling system. I probably spent close to the same amount for all of the parts. I purchased the RMS kit from Suncoast and the rest of the stuff from L&N.

01vdpsc:

What prompted you to make the L&N improvement? I keep wondering when and if I should do this - 99C2 - 34,XXX miles.

Thanks,

It was an upgrade I could afford. I cant afford a new engine. I made upgrades that I thought improved the protection and longevity of the engine. My car has 24,000 miles on it.

Thanks for all of the replys. Dropped car off at shop in NJ that only works on Porsches. They are going to analyze metal fragments and scope engine with fiberoptics to try and determine where the metal is coming from. I'll keep everyone posted on the results.

01vdpsc: Hello, I was wondering the name of the dealer that could do the LNE RMS retrofit + RMS seal. I am being quoted too much everywhere in Chicago, wanted to give them a try. Also, by thermostat do you mean cooler tank? Thank you
