Aftermarket Stereo in new Boxster or 911?

I'd love to get a new Boxster or 911 Cab on order, but I really want to put an aftermarket audio system in it. (I really have kicking systems in my current Boxster and 996TT)

I understand the issues of the fiber optics..I would just bypass that. I am more concerned about the dash opening for the radio... or how to get a trim ring for it. Any thoughts?

Has anyone put an aftermarket system in a 997 yet?

Thanks
Chuck

Sure it's no big deal, these are available. Find an installer who is familar with Porsches. If there isn't one available, then one can be fabricated, if they are unable to do so, find another installer. With regard to the 997, Jamey at Rawlings Audio has been doing them.

call Reus Audio

Rick Reus is a great guy. He knows his stuff.

Talked to him today. He said he's working on a complete system for the 997.

good luck.

It's really not a big deal because if you're really going to have a smoking system you are going to use an aftermarket amp and you can get the line out adapter from bekker. Thus it runs everything. YOu can also get a makeshift wiring harness adapter for the speakers so you don't have to chop the harness and simply wire that to the amp. I really don't see what all the fuss is. It's pretty easy to install a full system in the 996. I just redid mine with a jl 5/500 amp from a ppi 5440 before. A bit nicer. The cool thing is also that all the wiring is on the bottom of the JL amp so you see No wires! the PPI had it on the sides so couldn't get around that even though I ran it through the carpet.
