I wound up picking up a certified pre owned 2003 c4s from a dealer in pennsylvania. Its was completely mint, had a full history. It was more money than from a independant dealer. But the 24 month 100k porsche warranty and the condition ,warranted the premium.

Porsche will only certify a car with full service history by porsche and no evidence of paint work besides the bumpers i believe.

I would recommend the same to anyone in the market for a 996. Dont be fooled by the low prices for earlier 996 models on the private market. Repair work can be very very expensive.
Penn is the best place, that is close to ny, where you can get a great deal....

Congrats! I am a new P-Car owner myself... Ended up getting a 04 996 Atlas Grey with 68K.

Just be careful though... went through a major headache of having the "check engine" light come up the very next day. Thought that there was a major engine failure, but it turned out that it was just the lifters that needed to be replaced.

On top of that, I ended up replace the clutch, new xenon bulbs, and new tires. spent over $3K+... Even my chrome rim is peeling~ don't know if it was the tire guys or if it is just a natural cause...

Either way, the ride is awesome, and I love how it rides! Hopefully there will be no more problems, knock on wood...

Oh yeah... purchased it for $29K. At the time, all the mx was done at the dealership to include the 60K service ($2500).

I second that! Repair and parts are very expensive! I had to pay $20 for just one parking light. Luckily I did it myself, otherwise I would have paid for additional labor at the Porsche service!

Anyway, these cars are all great deals, I can't believe some of the deals that are available right now...
+1 X51 package. Have a dealer check it out.

Congrats on the 996! I'm in the market for one pretty much exactly like that as well! I'm a bit jealous. To my understanding you made a good choice going with the 3.6L due to some mechanical issues on the 3.4L, such as head gasket failures. Not to mention more power! Good luck with it!

I am Cantonese (from Canton, China). I've been to HK many times to visit my wife's family. I grew up reading the HK comic book "Loan Fool Moon" and since the author "Tony Wong" has a Porsche 911, he put it in his comic book a lot and that is how I got hook on Porsches.

Congrats on your 1st porsche. Now go out and experience throttle lift oversteer somewhere safe - it's a mandatory exercise

X51 upgrade+sport seats+PSM+Painted center console are "deal makers" for me. The car is optioned very nicely.

$32 is a good price. $29 would be an awesome price. If the exterior paint is in A+ condition, I'd be happy walking away at $30.5.

Drove it today... really great condition, even not considering the miles. The X-51 package really adds a kick and the suspension is tighter but not too stiff. Descisions, descisions, descisions....

Love to hear what you think about this car!

Just one more plug for the max. I got my car there and had to take it back for a few minor issues. They took it to the dealership, had everything fixed to my liking with no problems. They gladly work with you on issues. Every other dealership I have worked with gave me a hard time with service issues. Another friend of mine bought his p-car there as well and had a similar experience which awarded him 4 free new tires. Good service needs to be recognized as it is sooo rare these days.
