Can you upgrade the front brakes without upgrading the rears?

I have a line on some used GT3 brakes. Is it necessary to upgrade the rears too? I am curious if it will disrupt the brake bias if I just do fronts.

Ahmet is infamous around these parts
So technically you will change the brake bias by going to calipers with larger volume pistons on one end of the car only, but there are many kits that change only the front calipers/rotors for all kinds of cars. Technically you should replace the master cylinder along w/the rear brakes, though most wouldn't...

Also, I believe you'll need to replace many pieces, and the calipers/rotors won't just bolt on, if I remember correctly.

I've already got pricing on the GT3 master cylinder and wheel carriers. It's not too expensive for either item.

I just didn't want to make the rear end very light under heavy braking at the track. Damn rears add quite a bit of cost to the equation though.

it will throw off your bias... how much do you track the car? we recommend against doing brake upgrades if you are just doing the front... especially for track work.

At this point, I'm probably tracking the car more than driving it on the street.

Thanks for the advice! I'll move forward on obtaining all four calipers then.

Dog - let us know if you take gthe GT3 caliper route. Maybe you can do a nice DIY writeup for your 6Speed family.

FWIW, if you do upgrade to the GT3 package, you can save some money by using ATE Cayenne rotors. This is an option you won't have with the stock C2 setup.

I'm working on the deal right now. The holidays are throwing things off a bit. There is an insurance company from Europe involved so its moving slower than I'd prefer... That's good to know on the Cayenne rotors!
