The tint came from Japan though so check with your tint shop if they have it.

But then, with the economy going the way it is, and car break-ins are getting to be very often, even a light tint would help darken the interior at night to make stuff less visible for petty thieves. It should help lower the chances of car break-ins, specially for a cabriolet. Just my opinion.
Yup, I know the stuff you're talking about, I saw one of the 6Speed sponsors post something like that a while back. They did a before/after showing the amount of light that goes in the car with the clear tint & it blocks out a lot. That's what I want.

As for car break-ins, I can't remember where I saw it, but statistics show that cars with tinted windows are MORE likely to be broken into. Thieves can't see in & they wonder what the hell you're hiding. It's better to have no tint & just never leave anything in sight. Less temptation.

Nice car btw, yours would actually look good WITH tint, lol.

Uuuuh, with the clear tint, you don't want it blocking out a lot of light. I think you meant it blocks out a lot of heat.

And, yeah, you do have a point that not leaving anything in the car is the best way to prevent theft, however, that fact applies to both tint or no tint. With tint, you can still see what's inside the car, unless it is so dark it is no longer legal. However, what is not loose on the seats (i.e. stereo headunit on the dash) won't easily be seen with a quick glance and the car may end up getting ignored compared to a car with no tint that expressively shows the headunit shouting "steal me!". But that's just my opinion. I haven't seen the statistics you are talking about though and I still stand on my opinion that tint provides some sort of visual security.

BTW, my car DOES have light tint on the side windows. And you know what? I have the clear one on my windshield.

yes. If I lived in hot country I'd probably tint the back window, and, I admit that the back window on my SC was tinted a deep shade of grey. With the modern a/c units, unless you park outside in hot country, I think tinting is pretty much as aesthetic as choosing rims.

Thanks to all for your help. I will go with something dark in the rear so my kids will stop complaining about the heat (in SoCal). I will probably go with something light in the driver/passenger windows so the cops don't get another excuse to pull me over. Thanks again.

Sensible decision. This is exactly what I did with my other cars (sedans & SUVs). Darker rear windows and rear glass so back seat passengers would be more comfortable and lighter front windows for better driving visibility at night. BTW, anothing thing of note, tint reduces glare too (even the clear ones). Less stress on the eyes. Good if you either forget your sunglasses or you wear non-tinted prescription glasses.

I like tint on the windows if you live in a sunny climate. My car originally came from Arizona and I'm happy with the tint. It's not legal but I've already met CHP for other reasons........(ahem) and still didn't have a problem.

Here's a couple of better pics of my cab showing the light tint I have on it.

Really helps with glare and heat while retaining high visibility at night.

No tint ... looks cleaner without it. Besides, it's easier to see out, as well as for people (police) to see you inside if you get pulled over for speeding

I think a light tint looks really good. Something in the 35% range.
