Installed new spacers but...

I just installed 17mm spacers on my C4S. I have H&R lowering springs and the tire seems very close to the fender. Am I going to rub the fender? I was told that with the tire size I have, that there would not be a problem. What do you think?

wow, roll the fender as soon as u can. 17mm on stock 18'' twist wheel is pretty aggressive.

to answer ur question, yes u'll hit it. nothing to panic though.

I love your garage, man. What tiles did you use, getting ready to do mine this winter. Good luck wih the rims, maybe try it without the spacers.

If 17mm spacers are too much, we have 15mm spacers to be used with our chrome 46mm bolts.

I was told by the local Porsche dealer and wheel enhancements that the 17mm should work but, I guess we'll see.

I have a dumb Q. WHY are you using spacers? Just wanting a wider look?

Just curious.

I'm no specialist, but I don't see how that could not rub ...
Get the baseball bat and roll those fenders!!!

Andy,

I've got 15mm on 18 ruf's, lowered Gemballa kit on 996 C4 Cab, with 235X40's and 295X30's, and mine only touch when I'm at high speed and encounter a big dip in the road.

Your set up looks great.

Regards

Andy.......when Wheel Enhancement said go 17mm, did they know you had lowered the car?

You may be just fine.....get up some speed and find some dips to weight your suspension.....you will hear it if you do....and a single encounter will not hurt tires (much )
A spring change alone will not stiffen (lessen travel) of your suspension so, in your case, you still have that.

Suspension/offset/and ride height are related here.
A person w/coil-overs or PSS9s could also have pretty low height along with an aggresive offset.........with 17mm you are at 33/28 front/rear.....they're out there (and as you may have heard, many use 14mm on OE rims).

The upside is that the car does not appear to be 'too' low.....you may be alright.
If fender prep is needed.......please don't use your baseball bat.....find someone who's done it before (and knows the value of your car)
Good luck bud.

It dosen't look to me like it would rub, but you have that wheel kicked out there pretty far. try it , be careful..

since Andy has not replied yet, I'll end the mystery for y'all

we did a very aggressive drive Saturday morning(well Andy had to call it a day near the end as his wife gotta little "sick"). he had the Porsche 17mm rear spacers on and.................NO Rubbing

he said the only issue he might run into with these would be IF he hit a good sized hole or something else that would cause his suspension to flex WHILE he was making a hard turn - sounds pretty safe to me

FWIW there was also a heavily modded 996 turbo with PSS-9 setup and the Porsche spacers as well that were identical to Andy & mine(5mm front & 17mm rear) and he has not had any sort of rubbing issue either. his fenders are not rolled

Sorry for the late response. As Lizard1 stated, the spacers worked out just fine. After the run on Saturday there was NO rubbing on the fenders. The owner of the TT that was lowered with the same size spacers also tracks his car and he told me that he doesn’t have any problems. Thanks again to Frank (Lizard1) for going to all the trouble of getting the spacers for me. Here’s what they look like on the car.
