becker is supposedly much better in germany. look at their US distributor website, looks like they stole half the images, and the rest was designed by a 12 year old

I'm having the exact same issues with the CDR-23 (MOST) unit in my 03 C2. Locking and unlocking the alarm to reset no longer works on mine. I have to pull the unit out, unplug the MOST cable and put it back in then it works. I'm tired of this so I'm having the unit replaced with a Nakamichi one next week.

Cool For the remote issue ...

the dealer found two "key" issues (sorry, couldn't resist):

1) The main issue was the antenna in the A Pillar was folded in half. That doesn't do much for distance or effectiveness.

2) Replaced the alarm control unit about a week ago. So far ... so good. Time will tell.

Cool Poursha ....

I guess I will need to tell the dealer to order the special part: number IWLIST ("it works like it's supposed to") for me ASAP!

Corey,

Thanks,

You are correct I did buy used and it is not covered by the lemon law, but there is a similar law for used cars under warranty. I found out that in my case I would be entitled to the difference in money between a car wih no problems and a car with problems.

There's a TSB for that issue--I've decided that I've already spent too much time at my friendly Porsche dealer, so I'll live with it.

The only problem with the 'it's covered under warranty' issue is that Becker continues to fill the pipeline with the same crap they put in the cars.

Head Unit = crap
Amp = crap
New Head Units = crap
New Amps = crap

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

Yeah, I'm pissed. I'm sick of taking the damn thing in for such a pathetic problem that shouldn't cause me this grief.

Sometimes the radio fuse in the fuse box next to your leg jars loose. This happened to me the other month and I went to pull the fuse out and found it very easy to pull out. I looked at the fuse to make sure it wasn't blown and then pushed it back in. It's been working like a charm. Now I also had problems once before in my Boxster and in my C4S of the same exact thing of the radio coming on but would stay locked up in PORSCHE display mode. Found the wire harness to the F/O connector in back of the head unit was kinked. As some of you know it's not good to kink up F/O because of light data saturation bleed over. Unkinked and rerouted the harness somewhat and secured with tie straps and no problem since then at all.

The keyless entry problems could be caused by something very simple. It only takes a very small amount of dirt in the memory buttons or the trunk/engine lid button to make the keyless entry system malfunction. I had some very interesting problems with this until I learned what caused it. This included being locked in the car once! Every time I unlocked the doors, they would instantly relock. The keyless button on the remote would also just simply stop working, or the system would beep after locking the car in the same way it does if you've left something open but tried to lock the car. But, there was nothing open! The first time I really had issues they ended up replacing the alarm control unit, but this didn't fix the issues for long. The reason if fixed the issues is that they vacuumed the car and cleaned out the memory buttons, but once they got dirty again, the problems came back.

The fix is as simple as blowing into the buttons to clear out junk. Or, take your vacuum cleaner to it to really get rid of your problems. I know this might seem a little crazy, but trust me, I know VERY well what I'm talking about!
