You don't really believe there is any safety benefit from these do you? This is a 100% cosmetic mod.

IMO, they are pretty bright, therefore, it is not a 100% cosmetic mod. People slow down quickly when I step on the brakes or turn on the signal lights in broad daylight, so that says something.

I don't have to believe anything but there's tons of research out there for LED Brake lights vs. incandescents and how it affects reaction times from people behind.

Do you realize how fast led's turn on vs. incandescents and do you realize how far people travel per feet at highway speeds? I think if you search the net, you will see many studies to support this claim.

I stand corrected. I did do research and discovered the safety advantage for LED's is real in that they light up about 200 milliseconds faster than incandescent bulbs, which translates to 16 feet or so when traveling 65mph.

So you can rest easy that after you crash into the car in front of you that has old bulbs the person behind you will have had time to maneuver around the carnage in front of him

Ah ha! That's where our Porsche brakes come in handy, and I'd like to think most Porsche drivers are slightly better drivers than your avg Joe.

I'm just worried about other people that "think" they can drive and try to follow you at a good speed while you're in a car capable of high speed handling/stopping whilel they are in that '84 Buick with iffy brakes/tires/suspension and the inflated Schumacher ego.

I'll gladly get these lights for "those" people if it will prevent them from rear ending me. 16-20 feet seems insignificant on paper but can mean a difference of a cracked bumper in the real world.

As someone else eluded to in another post, just the bright and quick LED action tends to scare off people as well which can help at times and also prevent rear end accidents.

Anyone have side by side pics next to an OEM LED Car like BMW?
