To LED or not to LED :)

I am in a dilemma. I like the look of the LED tail lights. The problem I have never see them in person and I am trying to decide if I need them and in which color? Smoked of normal red/clear. My car is 1999 C4 in black with aero kit.

Please if you have photos of cars with LED tail lights, post them i would apprieciete alot thanks.

Yes, to LED. In black, I would definetely do smoked.

The look of the LEDs vs. the OEM lights is worlds apart.

It looks nice but it's not going to be the same quality as the original. Yes LED looks nice but got tired with all issues that I encountered with aftermarket stuff.

Not to LED for me.

I say LED. I would do red but if you decide to go the blacked out route how about buying the clear ones and blacking those out? I think that would look best as it would get rid of the red that you still see through blacked out tail lights. Similar to how Novitec lights have a completely black look

Tough choice. You may like the OEM look after you get the LEDs because you are use to the OEMs. They look pretty good though. Update the look of the car.

Smoked.

Here's my post regarding my smoked LEDs on my black car. The smoked ones doesn't look that smoked when close to the vehicle but the farther you go from the car, the darker they look.

Are LED lights all pretty equal in brightness(between various brands) or has anyone encountered a set that was pretty dim and unusable for safety reasons?

Between various brands??? I believe these are all manufactured by only one company but sold thru various outlets. So far, the only complaints are the cruise and hyperblinking of which the solution had already been discussed. My set is pretty bright. I am actually planning to take a video and more pics (night time, to make use of my new tripod ) and post them here.

Primary benefit(assuming the aftermarket ones are bright) is to increase the reaction time of the idiot following you too closely for their abilities(reaction time) or the car's abilities('83 buick) to avoid an accident and not rear end you. To me, the cosmetics would be secondary.
