I've since found out that the US cars use the BA9S "straight pin" H6W, while the ROW cars (like mine) use the BAX9S "angled pin" H6W. This conlclusion is based on jr1966's experience and on checking my own car.

I hope this info will help those who are looking to upgrade or replace their driving lights.

All that is left now is to get rid of those ugly amber turn signals, and get some chrome coated bulbs..

Makes a nice difference, and Its not that hard if you use the proper tool. I used a long nose plier/scissor. Ive done it on 2 pairs with no problems.

just got mine installed...and I have to say they do look much better than the halogen...Mine are the angle pins..I was also hesitant on de-amber my lenses...but I decided to bite the bullet and start probing away w/the soldering iron & out it come with the needle nose plier..costed me nothing and easiest mod I ever done..

De Amber?

Is the de-ambering really worth doing? To be honest it never bothered me, but this discussion on de-ambering has peaked my interest.

Is it easy? Any risks? Do you have to re-seal the lights with something?

IMO..its just come down to peoples taste...personally I think its worth doing it..plus it cleans up the front nicely kinda give that euro flavor..Very easy to do and no risk (if you have steady hands)..No re-seal require..just plug your bulb back in the socket and that's it.

Wait a minute. I didn't really nuderstand the "Amberectomy" until I went through the DIY articles. I think mine have already been de-ambered. Can someone tell me if it has been done, based on my car pic?

can't see it that well from that angle..
if you remove the bulb out of the socket..do you see any amber lenses..if not than yours may have been removed..just switch out the orange bulb with the silver one.

from the way it looks, i kinda see some amber in there. it is either amberectomy had been performed but you just have amber bulbs or it is not yet performed. If it is the former, all you need to do is get some stealth bulbs in there. Stealth bulbs are silver in color but light up in amber. If you get the Sylvania Silverstars, you will get a bluish hue. With the stealth bulbs, you won't get the bluish hue. Stealth bulbs are available at stealthbulbs.com or ebay.

Do you happen to recall the vendor/seller you purchased your parking light bulbs from? I am having a hard time finding the straight pin bulbs on ebay. Thanks.

To you (and everyone else), please re-check my post above. The one with pictures. I made some corrections and I apologize for the misinformation. In trying to answer your question, I had to go back and found out my mistake.

Here's a link to where I had purchased these.
