Lighting Upgrades

Well, since I was playing around with my new tripod, I decided to take some shots of my car's lighting upgrades.

LED front park lights

6000K HID bulbs - matches really well with LED park lights

Philips Crystal Vision 4000K Halogen for high beams - used to match the 4000K OEM HID bulbs but now it doesn't match the 6000K HIDs; doesn't show much difference in the pics but quite obvious in person

Nokya 2500K yellow bulbs for the fogs

LED tails, LED bulbs for reverse lights, LED bulbs for license plate lights

And a video of all the rear end LED upgrades

Cool. Would it be possible to get a list of what/where you got for all those upgrades?

EDIT = AS I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MADE A MISTAKE, I HAVE MADE THE CORRECTIONS BELOW IN BOLD.

Since my car is equipped with litronics, the list is for such:

HID low beams - 6000K HID D2S replacement bulbs, 35W - understeer.com

Halogen High Beams - Philips H7 Crystal Vision Ultra, 55W - you can get this practically anywhere that sells auto parts, including ebay; i got mine from the local Kmart

Fog Lights - Nokya H7 2500K (listed as 70W but actual wattage is 55W) - ebay

Front Park Lights - LED White BAX9S H6W (correction = angled pins) -ebay

Front Sidemarkers - Stealth Bulb 194 - stealthauto.com; understeer.com; or you can get 194 LEDs that light up amber from ebay

Rear LED tails - ebay (mywholesalegarage)

Rear LED 3rd brake lights - ebay (sportscarextras; euromotorspeed)

Reverse Lights - LED White 40-SMD 7506 1156 - ebay (motoringmax)

License Plate Lights - LED White - do a search at ebay for Porsche 996 license plate LED (i got mine from streetfires)

I do have stealth bulbs 7507 or 1157 for the front signal lights but it is useless due to the built-in amber cover within the headlight assembly.

Hope this helps.

Great info! Thanks for posting this. I've change my fronts to LED as well as my side markers. Now i'm looking to do more and this will definitely help!

One of my front park lights, time to change them. Was going to get the LED H6 as suggested in your thread. However, what do you mean by straight pins, and not the angeld type?

Also, is it plug and play, or do I have to install resistors like I did for my LED tail light?

Thanks!

If you look at the bottom of the base of the bulb (bottom view), there are two very small pins. These are the pins that holds the bulb in place in the socket. These pins are usually opposite each other in the same plane and there are some that are angled a bit (not in the same plane). It has to be the former. When I was doing this, I couldn't find within the 3 forums which is the correct one, therefore, I had to purchase both types and figure out which one upon installation.

I will take some pics in a bit and post again.

BTW, they're P-n-P. I do get those that are advertised as "no error codes" just to be sure. If they are not advertised as "no error codes", go with the significantly pricier ones as they have a higher chance that there are resistors built-in, hence the significantly higher price.

EDIT=OK, AFTER GOING BACK TO TRY TO ANSWER A QUESTION, I AM VERY EMBARRASSED TO SAY THAT I MADE A BOO-BOO IN THE INFORMATION I GAVE. AS I AM DOING MODS ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT CARS AT THE SAME TIME, I GOT A BIT CONFUSED AND GAVE SOME MISINFORMATION AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS. I HAVE MADE THE CORRECTIONS BELOW.

Ok, here are some pics.

This is the actual bulb I put in my car as front park lights. This is what I meant when I said "straight pins".
Correction = this is what I used for the reverse lights. I mislabeled it as the front park lights, therefore, the misinformation.

This is what I meant as "angled pins" which do not fit. Like the above, these are also described as BAX9S H6W.
Correction = these will fit.

This is another type that I bought with angled pins but these came with resistors as a package.
Correction = these are the actual bulbs I used

And this is the actual bulb that I used as license plate bulbs. Two is needed. This is advertised as "no error code" and there may be resistors built into the circuit board. This cost signicantly higher than some that are not advertised as "no error codes". First pic shows it with the OEM incandescent license plate bulb.

I see! that is good info. It prompted me to do some digging up found out that there are two types of H6W, they are bax9s and ba9s. I think the straight type is ba9s, and the offset/angled one is bax9s.

Do you think that it should be sufficiently safe to order based on this designation? BA9S?

some sellers show or illustrate the type of base of the particular bulb they are selling. you can ask them that question if you'd like just to be sure.

Looks great and great info. I've changed all my interior's (5 total) to leds, side, park and plate lights also. I just went to superbrightleds and purchased all at the same time.
