Need Advice
Hi,
I just joined. I'm looking at a 996 Cabrio. Been reading ads for 2000-2003. What do you guys recommend?
Thanks,
Saint O

If you comb the threads you will probably find many differrent answers to that question but a common theme seems to be that the RMS (rear main seal) leak problem is not as prevalent in the 2000 and up. That being said, any used car you buy may blow up the day after you buy it. Some people will also tell you to avoid "garage bombs", which are older cars with unusually low miles on them because they think they are more prone to blowing up without warning. There are threads on this as well.

As what was told to me go with the newest model you can afford. There is nothing wrong with 01 and lower models, but most usually want the 3.6 upgrade in the 02-04.
