Question Cargraphic Exhaust vs. Porsche Sport Exhaust

My buddy is debating between these two exhaust systems. Has anyone installed either one, if so, please give me your opinions.

I've heard both, and I have the cargraphic. The CG sounds like the PSE, just a lot louder. I'm really happy with it.

No comparison... PSE is ok but saves no weight and doesn't add power. We've put plenty of the Cargraphic exhuasts on the 996s and everyone seems to love the sound... Plus you save weight and get some power. The headers are a great piece also.

I have the PSE and absolutely love the melodious notes that it generates.... make sure you listen to both of them.... the PSE is loud enough unless your lookinhg for REALLY loud... PSE is significantly louder than stock and contrary to what everybody says about hp is a VERY efficient exhaust.

How much is the Cargraphic exhaust? I think PSE can be had for about $1500.

There are a lot of good exhaust out there. PSE is basically just loud, it's just a small bypass pipe put btwn the inlet/outlet on a otherwise stock muffler. Porsche claims no hp bc it adds no hp, if it did they would be all over it and you'd really pay for it!
I have heard cargraphics, they sound good, fabspeeds are awsome, I have GHL's on mine, very pleased. You just have to try and make an informed decision.

I have tried quite a few...99' PSE, Dansk, Fabspeed straight pipes, Fabspeed Maxflo, and now I'm back with the 04' PSE. My car (2000 Cab) originally had PSE, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that there were 2 generations of exhaust. My new, 04' PSE is substantially louder, and sounds oh so sweet!! I really, really love it!!! Best I have heard, but have not heard the new Cargraphic. My new 04' PSE is louder and more dramatic and aggressive sounding than the PSE that came on my 2000 cab.

Guys...give your input on the questionable 1st and 2nd generation theory.

Just had PSE re-installed on my carrera cab by "LUCENT" this week. I've had a smile from ear to ear with every drive so far. This is exactly what I was searching for from my Pcar. Moderately quiet with top and windows up and a perfect roar with the top and windows down.

Justin is as bad as I am with exhausts (stock,Ruf,PSE,Fabspeed)
I recently sold my old style PSE, the 3.4L version with a small 5/8" bypass pipe between the inlet and outlet pipes on the muffler, great sound but some build quality issues IMO. As C4S Surgeon said, the mufflers are otherwise standard 996 mufflers with a bypass "grafted" on it with an Eisenmann badge.
The newer 3.6L versions feature an extra outlet pipe from the muffler body, approx the same size tubing (2"+). The overall build quality looks better, at least externally, and they sound good too. But they have the same external acuator levers and such to open the valves, these are prone to rattle by their design.
I'm happy with my Fabspeeds; solid build quality, good sound and no moving parts to fail.

Yes there were 2 generations of the exhaust... the 3.4 version and the 3.6 version... 3.6 is backwards compatible... I believe I have the 3.4 and LOVE the sound it makes... raspy and much louder than stock...

Justin, correct me if I'm wrong but I think the newer PSE sounds throatier but looses some of the raspiness no?

as far as volume... you know best seeing you had both.... but when I installed the PSE it was a HUGE improvement over stock...

can we tell by the part number whether its a new or old PSE? also you must compare on the 3.4 litre engine cause the 3.6 engine sounds way different to begin with....

Pete...all that I know is that, the reason I went "sound searching" was because I wasn't all that happy with the 1st PSE that I had. I actually never had the stock exhaust, so other than other Porsche's that I have heard, I wouldn't know about that. This 04' PSE that I have on my 3.4L car is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Huge difference between all other exhausts, except the straight pipes, which were just too much for the Cab. I do know that there are different part numbers for the two exhausts, not knowing the numbers off hand. My new 04' exhaust even has a litte "popping" when compression exists, i.e. down shifting...foot off the gas. Sounds really cool!! The sound is very loud, and very throaty, and I think "raspy" as well. Sounds like I am selling these things, but honestly, I can't tell you how impressed I am personally.

Forget the mufflers.... PSE and Fabspeed sound great in my opinion but aren't loud enough, haven't heard the Cargraphics, but have yet to hear any negatives from anyone. Do what I did and take the 60 lbs hunks of metal out from under the back of your car and throw some pipes on there coming from your cats
