Flat spot in the powerband normal for a '99 or something to be concerned about?
Hey folks, after owning my '99 C2 for a couple months of mostly urban driving I finally got to take a road trip this weekend and get in some 'straightaway on a lonely highway' driving, if you know what I mean.
In 3rd and 4th, it pulls hard with plenty of torque up through about 4500 rpm and then runs into a bit of a flat spot where it seems like something is missing. If it were my old Z car that I used to race, I'd guess that the fuel mix was off, but I don't know a whole lot about the Porsche's engine. After it gets through that area of the rev band, it feels great again from 5500 through redline.
Is that 5000ish rpm 'flat spot' normal or something to worry about?
Granted, it does have 61k miles and is due for a new set of plugs.

You can see the stock dyno plot used as a reference here:

Seems like there should be a flat spot just above 5000 rpm, so everything is probably as it should be.
I can remember the flat spot on my car made me wonder too. I chose to get rid of it by installing: headers, x-pipe sport cats, sport mufflers, intake, plenum & SW upgrade . Fun, but no cheap remedy...
