Speaker suggestions?
I still have to replace my rear speakers In my 99 911 c2 coupe. The speakers are located behind the front seats on the side of the car, I guess it would be opposite the quarter panels. I bought a set 5 1/4 alpines that i was told would fit but of course they didn't. I guess they where to wide and deep for my car. So now I'm back to buying new ones that will fit and this time I will ask for help.
1 - What size speakers do I need to fit in the rear?. (I'm thinking 4" 3-ways)
2 - What do you recommend? I just want something that will go with my Kenwood bt645u deck and Infinity 4 x 6" front speakers.
Thanks for the help.

I have diamond speakers in mine, id stay away from kenwood, pioneer, and rockford speakers, I'd probably go with the infinity speakers, very reasonable prices, great quality, good luck, have fun

I see you have a 99 like me. What size speakers did you use for the rear? When I searched Crutchfield, I only really had one option for the rear speakers on the rear side panels and they where 4" 3 way Kenwoods. As any reading this thread, I have no idea about speakers. I had 5 1/4 alpines but the installer said they where not going to fit.

Use them in the back for fill I think they sound great for a coaxial and no mods really necessary except for fastening them to the original speaker covers for stock look.

Don't limit yourself to 3-way Kenwoods. 3-way doesn't mean better. Most, if not all, of the best speakers are 2-way. Focal, Morel, Image Dynamics, etc. Woofersetc has a good selection of better 4" coaxials and components, including CDT, German MB Quarts, Diamond HEX, DLS, in addition to those mentioned above. Not affiliated with them but I just want to share one of the better online sources for car audio that I've had great experiences with.

Thanks everyone for the info. Once again i get help i needed. How big is the difference in the sound quality and bass output between a 4" and 5 1/4 speaker? As Asialors996 tells me you can fit 5 1/4's with adapters and that would seem the better choice to make?

Now I get even better news. My new kenwood radio will not stay out of the demo mode. Every time I turn the car on I lose all my preset settings...my radio stations, my bass and treble settings. Unreal what a horrible experience so far.

constant battery and switched power mixed up
I had this exact same problem when I installed my Alpine deck. it was because the Porsche wiring has reversed the colours of the constant 12v and switched 12v. One is red and the other yellow... Get a multimeter and test to see which one is constant battery and hook that up to the right wire on the kenwood - you'll probably find that it is reversed.

Better bass response and less distortion at lower frequencies due to larger woofer area and excursion. However, as long as you have subwoofers, the difference would not be that significant.
