Engine Whine Hum noise at idle
hey guys, i searched for this but couldn't find anything. i have a 1999 c2 cab and have a couple noises.
at idle, when inside the car the engine has a whining noise that goes up with the engine revs. it sounds like a whiny fuel pump but goes up with revs so not sure...
also, when the car has been sitting in the rain and i start the car cold there is a squeaking noise that comes from the engine compartment for about 15 seconds then goes away. any ideas?

squeaking noise? possibly moisture on belts. seen that on mine but not 15 seconds long which was just due to moisture not coming from rain. checked my belts and they were fine.
I hear a very faint whining noise in my car too but I know it's just normal engine sound as it sounds similar to the whining noise that my other cars make.

it seems like a bad bearing in the alternator doesn't it. everything is working fine so maybe i shouldn't mess with it.
it's hard to hear the noise from the outside, but from the interior with the windows up you can really hear it.
has anyone had noisy fuel pump issues? isn't that in the tank though?
thanks

My 2001 hums too. It goes away at about 1500 rpm's. Sounds normal enough, but I guess it could be "something" going out. My car "clicks mildly" on starts. Any ideas on what this might be. It does it for only about five full seconds. Is this normal dry pistons on a cold day / 50 deg F out.
Also, what does an IMS going out sound like? What to listen for? Thanks all.
