thanks 996wings....you should've seen the first side I drill the holes..I have to use a couple of washers b/c the holes are too big from redrilling again & again...
a little off topic but I'm thinking about upgrading the taco wing to something new w/agressive styling that match my 997-ish theme..what would you reccomend?

Where did you get that bumper from? Really considering this mirror mod if I can find some reasonable mirrors...

Cheers

I'll keep a lookout. Ones on there now are a little pricey.

Nice work man.

Did you send the mirrors out to get painted by a body shop, or did you do that yourself?

Looking good.

thanks ... I painted myself, but had it clear coated at the shop cause I tends to overspray it & don't want to have any runs.

these look like they would fit without having to drill, at 600 bit pricy though:

How much were your EOMs? And what do you think the shop would charge for drilling and the paint? Cause ain't no way I could ever be able to do this myself Been thinking about mirros as well as front lift as from outside 2002 models don't look much different from later models apart from these.

I got my oem mirrors on ebay for about $200..it was taken off from a salvage 997..so lucky me..The one you're look at doesn't requires drilling cause they were made specifically for the 986/996..painting will probably cost around $200-300ish..I think this is for the shell ony cause the add mention "and made to use the glass and motors from your current mirrors". yeah, $600 Is a liitle too much..keep looking & you're find one eventually.

here's the final result:
Hi, I'm in the process of doing the same mirror conversion, can you tell me, did you change the rubber seal that the mirror fits in on the door or did you use the original ones, any help would be really appreciated, thanks

if you're using Oem 997 mirrors & not the aftermarket one, the rubber seal should fit with minor trimming. I did not use the original one...you may need to cut away bottom rubber trim so the mirror can sit flush..

yellow arrow is where you need to trim..save that piece just in case you want to put the old mirror back

it will sit flush like this

there will be about 1/4" gap so all you need to do is cut yourself some rubber piece & tuck it in....hope this helps & G/L
