Did anybody ever buy an extended warranty with this or any other company?

At my dealership we sell a few but I always push Wynn's. They pay our service dept right over the phone with a credit card and have low deductibles.

The one I am looking at is around $2200 and would be good until 2011, Miles is not an issue as I will be putting no more than 5K a year on it.

Would you rather deal with Wynn's vs. dealer?

Neil,

I am in the same position as you are.

My warranty ends in March of 05 and I contacted warrantydirect as well.
To feel more comftorable, I called my local Porsche dealer (Schneider & Nelson) to see if they had any prior experience with warrantydirect.
They informed me that they had processed claims from that company without any issues.

I would suggest contacting your local dealer and see if they entertain warrantydirect claims.

So here's the big question regarding these things...

Since the extended warranty is in effect from date of signing, and you have 2+years on left on your factory warranty... Is it cheaper to get it when you only have a few months left for a shorter period than to have a long overlapping extended warranty.

i.e. Buying a 6 year warranty 100kmi in feb 05' around $3500
Buying a 4 year warranty for 100kmi in feb 07 price ?????

Has anyone done this calculation or has anyone done this when the car is about to expire. I would hate to have overlapping coverage for no reason and pay for it too.

Corey

Corey the time, with the company I referenced above, adds to the end of the warranty. So the 6 year warranty would be up in 2011.

Actually I spoke with them and they said it was from time of signing, though mileage was total mileage. So a 6year on a car 2 years into the warranty would really be a 4 year extension. So a 6year for signed in 2005 would expire in 2011, not 2013.

Corey you are correct. I understood it but wrote it wrong. I did get the year right for my car....2011....4 years added. Is it a good investment? Will this compqany be around and back a claim if necessary?
