Vet might be fast off the line but throw a turn in there and the Porsche will rise to the top.
Not that I am a snob but a Porsche will always get more looks the a vet. JD Powers just rank Porsche #1 for quality.

Vette = Straight line raw power, I was done after 2-3 days..

Porsche= arguably the consummate sports car, will leave a vette far behind in the twisties... I look forward to every opportunity to drive it!

Don'k know about 'vettes but 2 weeks ago got a CPO 996 C4s and it's in a class of it's own. Up to now I had been driving BMW's for 33 yrs and although I admire Bimmers, P-cars are something else altogether. BTW I'm 66

I was in the same boat as you before but I chose Porsche.

I'm already convinced to buy a ZO coz you get more horsepower for your money but then I consulted my friend who customizes exotics and been in the car scene for years. His comment is: "No matter how fast or nice your Vette is you will not look good in it". I asked why and he said: "Because you have small eyes".

So that point I decided to get a Porsche coz the styling is more versatile to different races and profiles. Plus, it's more wow to say I have a Porsche... Not to mention it's been my dream car since I was 5 yrs old.

Really? Not my experience at all. They are very evenly matched.

But it is comparing apples to grapefruit. Totally different driving experience.

And the seats in the Vette absoutely SUCK.

Drive both and decide what you want.

"porsche... There is no substitute!"

+1 Porsche

I've driven a Vette and a Porsche. I guess you can tell which I ended up getting. As far as looks and performance, you can't go wrong with a Porsche. It just looks so much better than a Vette, and the performance on a Porsche is like no other. Like the old Porsche saying goes...

"PORSCHE... THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!"

I've been shopping for a C6 about a month ago, not to replace my Porsche, but as a replacement for my BMW Z3 Coupe. Drove a couple of examples, a ZHZ LS3 Coupe and a Z51-equipped LS2 Vert. Both felt like your driving a tub. The power is there, the V8 sound, but they both felt huge (even though size is close to a 911) and unconnected in some ways. The interior is very....uh, GM. The little lip under the front bumper scrapes just about everything. The brakes on the Z51 squeals on every pressure applied (I read a common issue with Z51s). The both felt heavy with hardly any steering feel.

After the test drives and jumping back to the Porsche, the 911 felt soooooooo much better in every aspect. BTW, the owner of the Z51 LS2 drives a 996 Turbo and he felt the same way as I did. Even though I still like the C6 (probably the only American muscle I would consider along with the Viper), it just doesn't compare to a Porsche.

Porsche_911, I know what you mean about the "small eyes". You don't fit the typical Corvette stereotype.

Stock for stock I agree, and I don't fit the typical Vette owner either.

Both are nice and will be a joy to drive, but you're asking on a Porsche forum... so what response do you expect?

I personally think the C4S is one of the best looking Porsches in recent memory. Test drive some P-cars and that'll help make up your mind.
