Western General Aftermarket Warranty

Hey guys,

Thinking about getting an aftermarket warranty for my 00 C2. It was under western general until 09/09...so i was figuring to just go back with them b/c the car hasnt had any problems. Do any of you use western general? I'm also trying to find the shortest term warranty (1 year instead of 3) so if you guys know any solid companies that are 1-2 years, let me know. THANKS.

PS...i am so madly in love with my pcar. Been pulled over 3 times in the past month, but no tickets yet KOW

Call Dominic at 480-816-3411. I used to work there selling warranties/extended service contracts so you can rest assure I researched every competitor and policy out there. For me and my '99 996 with 48K miles EFG Tech Choice Deluxe was the best most comprehensive policy out there. I put the service writer at North Scottsdale Porsche on the phone with an adjuster with EFG to confirm that a catastrophic engine failure caused by an IMS bearing would be covered and it is. The total limit of liability for the policy is equal to the NADA Retail Value of the car and EFG allows repairs in my zip code in Scottsdale at $124 per hour.
Dude check all these things out especially the limit of liability and the per hour labor rate they will pay in your area.
Dom will set you with with a small down payment and interest free financing up to 18 months. Its a really ethical small company. Every customer that canceled got their refund the same day. Tell him his ex employee Rob sent you and ask him to help you out with a discount, he'll do it.

What would a reasonable price be for one of these aftermarket warranties?

I just got mine about a week ago, $3400 - 4 years 48000 miles bumper to bumper coverage on a 2003 C2 with 37000 miles.

Cool IMS not covered

I bought the SELECT "pre-owned vehicle service contract" and a couple weeks later () asked if IMS would be covered when these threads spooked me. The answer was no. I suggested to them that this would cause me to terminate the contract so they dug a bit deeper. Still, the answer on IMS was no.

So I am canceling the Western General contract (free in first 30 days) and going with EasyCare. EasyCare was more expensive than Western General but did confirm IMS coverage. They accurately knew what IMS was and appreciated the ask. I could not get 4 years on my 2003 Targa but got 3 years w/a slightly larger deductible ($250 vs. $100). I will sleep better once this is in place. EasyCare does require an inspection so I am glad I had not done any mods yet .

These are the facts as I have lived them. Now feel free to suggest I am a dumba$$ for not checking this sooner.
