Double DIN Nav install

Double DIN Nav install
Well I did it. Good thing I listened to all of you. I have a 2004 C4S Cab,with the Bose "Most" system.
I got a Pioneer Avic-f700bt from ebay, an install kit from Loi, an upper storage bin and wound up with an Alpine PDX-5 amp.
The best thing I ever did was take it to a professional installer; it took him a good 5 hours to install (I would probably have spent days on it - I watched him part of the time, so I know).
Initially, I got a Pyle 6 channel amp off ebay, but it is very large and several installers advised that although it was very powerful it created a lot of "noise", therefore I will be soon selling it on ebay. The Alpine 5 channel is great and better yet it fits on the little shelf in my trunk.
Thanks all for your advise and DIY blogs on both 6speed and Ren.

I will post some pics soon I get the chance, probably in a few. FYI, I did this on a budget and it totaled out at $1,350 and would have been at least $300 less if I got the amp on ebay, but because the car was halfway done when I found the 6 channel was too "noisy" and a 4 channel wouldn't work (woofer) I needed it immediately, (the Alpine PDX-5 is so pretty with the blue lights, etc. that I should take off my truck lid so everyone could see it). My installer said new speakers would be better, but assured me I woud be very happy with the stock bose ones and if I wanted I could always replace them later. So far I am very happy with the sound.
Loi can be reached at sales@euromotorspeed for the install kit and lots of advice but be aware this job is "art not science" and requires some artful cutting and fabrication to fit. Also, I went with the stock upper storage tray from Porsche, without cutting the edges of the A/C control as shown in the DIY blog that Loi sent, therefore my A/C control is at the bottom where the lower storage tray used to be and the upper tray is where the CD holder (really useless IMHO) used to be. With Loi's kit it came out looking completely stock. Also, when I thought Loi's kit might be redundant, my installer said he would never do this without the kit. So if you are doing this or having it done by someone else - Get The Kit!

Yes, Loi is also a member here. He doesn't seem to show much of his presence here in the 996 section though. Maybe he posts more in the 986 section as he owns a Boxster.
