Ready to tackle mod #2 - New Stereo head unit. Reccomendations?
Car is a 2004 C4S with the Bose system single din CD player. I would like to change out the head unit to another single din so I can use either my android phone or an old i-touch I have laying around. I would most likely use the android phone to stream Pandora. I searched earlier threads, but most are for double din or the picture links are no longer valid.
Can the unit easily be wired in? Are there wiring harness adaptors to keep from cutting the harness? Anything I need to be aware of before making a decision?

It seems that the mod in vogue is Pioneer. I've done it with a 710 but if you want to stream Pandora, you'll need the 920. Suggest you contact Loi at Eurospeed.com or at his ebay store. He puts out a bezel with casing and harness for about $169.00. I used it, kept the Bose speakers and bypassed the Bose amp, adding a pair of Alpines. Looks OEM.

Another option I recommend for single din meeting your requirements is Eclipse CD5030. I have this with Infinity speakers and factory woofers and setup with tuning the time alignment and parametric eq, it sounds comparable to much more expensive setup in my other car. I'm also using my Nexus N1 to stream music and do hands free calling from the radio. The supplied mic is pretty weak so you'll either need to mount the mic close to your head like the sun visor or get a more sensitive mic.

Time Alignment
7 band parametric eq with q control
5 volt pre outs
Bluetooth w/A2DP(stereo protocol)
Crossovers
Ipod Integration/Control
Satellite and HD radio option
The unit is discontinued but you can still find places selling new old stock for a little over $200. One of the best bang for buck imo.
