Trade a 02 C4S for a '03 Turbo?
I found a nice Polar Silver '03 turbo MSRP $130k. What would be a good price? My '02 C4S has just 6k Miles and original sticker was $89k what can I expect on a trade. I have a feeling I'm going to take a bath on this if I go thru with it. Thanks for listening.

Dave,
I just sold my '03 Turbo with an MSRP of $128,645 for $104K. Luckily, I only paid $116,000. Believe me, they guy did me a favor because I had bought 3 cars from him. Most dealers were talking in the high$90s. Your car's probably worth in the low to mid $60s on trade so your probably looking at least $40k and your car which is nearly what the MSRP difference is between the cars. Sorry!

The turbo is new. The dealer gave a opening amount of my car plus $55k and the tt sticker is 129k. So If I do the math, with discounts running at about 10k off, my C4S is only worth just 64k after 13 months and 6k miles. Wow... that was an expensive 6k miles. If they can do $45k plus my car... we may have a deal. Oh well.

Dave -
Play the wholesale to dealer cost game with Chambers. I used that on my 98 Boxster to 03 C2 Cab negotiations successfully last month. Here's how I did the math for the sales people (using your Turbo numbers):
Turbo MSRP: $128,775 Dealer Invoice: $112,588
02 C4S Trade-in per KBB.com $63,000
Offer: your car plus $50K - a pure cost to cost transaction.
Inskip countered with a 2.5% above invoice number to cover their fixed costs on my deal. Chambers should be in the same ballpark on a fair offer. Good Luck (and hello again from a fellow GBBG drive veteran)!!
